Julius Peppers

I would not be surprised to see the Pats make a play for him. Something tells me they'll be in the mix.

But chances are he won't be better who cares if he's cheaper it ain't are money. they need better players not cheaper player

I agree, the 9ers have a good amount of cap space and will have enough left after saving for or giving out extensions to Frankin/Willis/Davis/Gore/Brooks to sign a couple FAs and Peppers should be a priority along with any top tier OL if any that are out there.

Id give up a 1 and 3 for Peppers! Then we get a great RT w #13 and a Safety or guard in Rd 2..Sign another KR thru free agency or draft..

So basically, the Niners would be giving up their 2nd from last year and a 3rd this year for Peppers? I would be ok with that too.

Inside information? I don't see Sing switching after building this team around the 3-4. I'm not talking about player ability, I'm talking about knowing the schemes and executing plays. I wouldn't mind seeing Peppers in there running off the edge. He wants to play in the 3-4 and the niners need a pass-rush specialist. Brooks could be that guy but only time will tell. Maybe they could take turns sacking NFC West Qbs.
$$$$, worried that once he gets his fat checked hell go back into being a bum. 2 years before he was to hit FA he recorded 2.5 sacks. The year before FA he got 14.5 and got Franchised tagged so he had to put up another good season to get paid in FA 10.5 sacks.

I like that idea for FA contracts. Load it up with playing incentives so you're not stuck with a Delhommeesque contract.

I'm cool with signing Peppers to a big deal but no way we should give up a 1st round pick for a 30 year old player. If they want all that we should let another team make that reach.

ladies, ladies, ladies, i live out here in carolina & this has been brought up alot trust me he wants nothing to do with the west coast. he'd rather stay on the east coast. it would be nice, but it's not going to happen. BOOK IT!!! IT WONT BE HAPPENING!

ESPN: Peppers to become a free agent

Quote:
Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers will not be given the franchise tag, a team source said Monday night.

The official announcement is likely to come Tuesday, when the Panthers hold a news conference to address a number of issues.

If the Panthers had opted to tag Peppers, it would have cost them $21.4 million -- about $1.3 million per game -- which the team deemed too pricey. Peppers will be one of the highest-profile free agents since Reggie White.

Teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Thursday to use their franchise tags.

we have not had a pure pass rusher like peppers since andre carter left via free agency to go to washington we have not had double digits sack since we need peppers he is the biggest free agent available now we can see how serious the yorks are about being championship team sign peppers and we are on our way back to superbowl
If McClueless is serious about not making a BIG splash in free agency then at least pick up 1 or 2 Pro Bowl caliber type of players to help the team out right away

Peppers would fit that mold
because if you think about it if we really want to make a playoff run next season
most of the rookies we draft probably wont help out

see this past years draft how many rookies really helped us out?

if it wasnt for Crabtree finally coming into camp the rook's pretty much didnt help out our cost

pretty much if we want a instant upgrade of this team go after a few free agents that can impact this team for good reason's this year

I WANT PLAYOFFS
I WONT SETTLE FOR LESS

GO NINERS!!!!
