Yes he can become a #2. But under Singleterry you have to be a good practice player first and lest importance on being a prodcutive game day player. Alex Smith has always worked hard in practice and prepared, Nate Davis makes plays on game day but doesnot study, edge to Alex.

Jason Hill makes plays on game day, Morgan is a good practice player but goes a few games without catches.

So there you have it Sing is not an offensive coach and doesnot envision how to use such toys, he just goes by if you practice hard it should translate to the field.
You gotta be a solid down-field blocker to start in our offence.

Oh well if Zeigler or Hill are released, if I were them I would try and hit up Chicago for a job. They seem to be a lot more comfortable in Martz' offense.

You do realize that Zeigler has passed Hill on the depth chart right? Hill hasn't done much this offseason, or the past 3 offseasons. Z has out worked him by far. I nice 40 time only gets you so far. Z is our 4th receiver right now.

It does look like Jason Hill is probably on his last season with the team. Zeigler has passed him and may even pass Ginn at some point in the season to be the third wr

Chicago has a lot better receivers than us, so I doubt they're in need. But I do agree on Hill. I prefer him over Morgan as well, but all accounts make it seem as if he is on his way out. My money says he ends up on the Hawks if he gets cut.

I hope you're not serious...

Why? I can't be honest. Knox, Hester, Aromashadu, Bennett... they can all play. I'd take Crabtree over all of them, but as a unit, I'd take their guys over ours.

From what I've read in camp, Zeigler is who they use to show how routes are suppose to be run. Zeigler is showing improvement, but it's a stretch to say he #2 over Morgan. These coaches see all the little things that make a complete receiver. You can't use preseason stat b/c remember we had Clayton lead the league in preseason rush yardage a few years ago? Kid barely played during regular season.

Silver lining in this discussion? We finally have depth to at least have this discussion.

An interesting question, and my answer is that if the QBs have a comfort level with him in the lineup then he stays. He runs precise routes and is hungry. He has shown he'll do whatever it takes to be on the field. Also he's a homegrown product. He has many fans among the 49er faithful including me.
What Zeigler brings is consistency...which isn't lost on either Alex or Jimmy Raye. He's a possession receiver...not a bad thing at all. However, he's also on the spindly side, so most likely won't be the blocker Morgan is. First things first...he makes the team, arguably as the #4 or 5 WR. Then, we'll see...

hmm... who the heck are those guys? Crabtree is worth 3 of them alone. Morgan is a #2 because his good blocking skills and ability to get open. O, and I almost forgot...

I like Ziggy. He went through alot, battled in the practice squad and worked his way potentially in our WR corps. But as of now he would be best as our #4 not #2...
