Interesting news. With the emergence of Brooks, I didn't think that OLB would be that high of a priority.

Well the staff has to take into consideration that Brooks just had a hot streak and isn't emerging to do anything.(ex. Brandon Moore). LaBoy is a decent OLB and this team really needs the depth at that position.

I really hope we sign him to be honest. He may be coming off an injury, but the guy has proven he can get to the Qb. No he isn't dominant...but he provides very very good depth at a position where we're thin.

I'd want him. He provides depth and is not bad when healthy.

Can someone explain if he's a better option than Parys Haralson, Manny Lawson and/or Ahmad Brooks? I don't know much about him. What would his role be on the team? Couldn't we target a OLB/rusher in the draft also?

He wasn't under contract last year (rehabbing his injury) so he can sign with any team at anytime.

Even when healthy, I don't think LaBoy is a "better" option than these guys, but he would be a very good addition as a 3rd down pass rush specialist. That's really his game, getting off the ball very quickly and providing a speed rush off the edge...so think of him more as a complimentary piece more so than a full-time solution.

Normally I don't care about free agents of the LaBoy caliber. But if the niners do sign him and don't draft a DE/OLB on day one, this would upset me.

He's never had more than 6.5 sacks in his career, mediocre at best.
