Not to say they cant learn from them, but I think if we want to win now, the digit system is the best option.

How is it that we won 5 SBs with the west coast offense? You don't have much confidence in our players the way you talk about them! Are they really that dumb?

I don't think Young should coach Alex on his technique, but more on his attitude, Alex Smith is a f**king p***y when it comes to leadership and he lets his o-linemen trip all over him.

I'm tired of this shy/cutsie stuff, I wanna see Alex Smith yelling in the middle of the huddle before each game, riling the troops up for battle! CAUSE YOU KNOW IT'S REALLY BULLSHT WHEN YOUR QB ISN'T THE CAPTAIN OF YOUR OFFENSE!

Boy, you probably hated Joe Montana. That guy never yelled and was really quite.

There are different types of leadership. I can give you a long list of great players who weren't yellers with Montana at the top of it.

Thank you for completely missing the point.

I wish we never went away from the West Coast offense but changed back to it would be dumb. The 9ers are a digit pass team now. Let's work with that offensive system and stop changing things around. The year-to-year changes in personell, coaches, and schemems needs to stop. Winners dont' have that much turnover.

Am I right in thinking the OC for the Colts has been in that position since 1998?.

Not going to happen. Yorks hate everything(ie:west coast offense) and anyone that is connected to the Walsh and Debartolo era. You think they don't know, that Rice and Young live just a few minutes away from 49ers HQs? They could have asked for their help along time ago!

How do you know this?? Have you spokem with Jed recently?

sad part there is some truth to that. funny how singletary or any of the management never jumped on this. you would think as a coach you would want to have young or montana or lott or rice help out. hell they were only the best at what they did. allot of other teams do this including the raiders they have old players help out. lol but the raiders just recently pissed on gannon for wanting to help with russell

Their help on any level would greatly be appreciated. Will the Sing Dynasty reach into our past & bring in these 2?

YES YES! ALEX SMITH CAN BUILD A BOMB OUT OF PAPER CLIPS AND A TAMPON! HE'S A LOT SMARTER THAN STEVE YOUNG!!!
One of the main reasons why Steve was able to buy time and throw the ball better was his ability to run. The defense had to keep one guy with responsibility on Steve Young. This helped a lot with opening things up more in the defense.

FYI, Young rushed for 454 yards in his last full season (1998) averaging 6.5 ypc with 6 rushing TDs.

Alex Smith's ability to buy time or be an effective runner is far inferior to Steve Young. Steve is better off helping a guy like McNabb.
I don't know, Steve is not as smart as Alex! LOL

Seeing todays' game, Drew Brees is the best pump faker I've seen in a long time.

Sorry to bring up the old "hand size" thing again, but did you hear Phil Simms commenting about the pump fakes and then remarking that Brees has HUGE hands? I think they're 10-1/4". Alex is not comparably equipped, with what, 8-1/2" hands?

Not to say that all successful QBs must have huge hands, but it does help, especially with the ability to pump fake. Another QB with large hands is that guy Favre. Small hands may not be Alex's main problem, but it does make a difference.

Said Rice, "I think with the 49ers right now . . . Michael Crabtree, also Vernon Davis, what he was able to do. He was a Pro Bowler this year and had a fantastic season. Frank Gore. They're using the spread offense right now, and I think Alex Smith is still going to be the quarterback, so they did some good things this year," Rice said. "I think they could've won maybe three or four more games and been right there in the playoffs. So, hopefully, next year they can do it."

Well, at least Jerry didn't bag on Smith this time.

5 Super Bowls with players like Montana, Young, Rice, Clark, Craig, Lott, Rathman, etc.

I'm not saying they cant pick up the WCO. What I am saying is that they have trouble with the offense now because it has changed so many times. Why would I be confident that they could switch systems AGAIN, and be able to perform any better?
I think Alex has had enough paper knowledge and he doesn't need anymore. Just let the guy get back to bending his knees and playing football.

Look at the games when he first came into the HOU game. His legs were nicely bent and he used his legs' power to make some damn good throws. Later in the year, at times, he resorted back to his straight front leg.
