So far so good. Our running defense will get it's toughest assignment of the season this Sunday, we will see how legit we are after that.

assign P.Willy to Peterson all day. Harvin will also be a factor.

Some early stats so far this season. The 3rd down percentage ranking is solid. It is still early, but we are looking great so far.
Defense time of possession: 26:56 (only 7 teams better)
Converted 3rd down percentage 29% (only 2 teams better)
Yards/Game: 291.0 ranked 9th
Rushing Yds/Game 53.0 ranked 4th
Avg Rush: 2.7yds ranked 5th
Passing yards/game 238.0 ranked 21st (ranked 3rd in pass attempts against team)
Avg yards/pass 6.0 ranked 6th
I highlighted what I think are the two most important stats. We're stopping the run and making opponents throw on 3rd and longs- and stopping them from converting those 3rd downs.
Plus, we are +2 in the turnover ratio which makes us tied for 7th in the league.

Just keep the points down and we can win, rest are just meaningless stats.

Awww, that Time of Possession stat makes me go...
Seems like our defense was out there 65% of the time the last 4 or 5 seasons.

Great job on the stats! Hope our defense continues to play this way. These next few weeks we got a couple tough offenses in the Vikings & Falcons. I wanna see our defense get some pressure, sacks & turnovers!

This is a tough defense. Singletary has changed the identity of this team, and I for one am enjoying it. Manusky deserves alot of credit as well.

I agree. I think this is the best the 49ers' defense has looked this entire decade, although it's only through 2 games. So far this team looks even better than the team that had Julian Peterson, Andre Carter, Ahmed Plummer, etc.
