If James Jones hits free agency this offseason, I think he would be a great signing for us. He seems expendable in Green Bay with all of the wide receiver talent they have, and he went to college at San Jose State so it's not unfamiliar territory for him. Donald Driver is also going to be an unrestricted free agent, so we'll see who gets the cut.

Nope, too much like Josh Morgan for my taste. The Niners need some deep speed at WR to compliment the two possession types WR's they are starting right now. Jones is not that guy.
I say James Jones stays in Green Bay. Driver is not getting any younger and there is little depth at WR. Don't think Packers staff is content of having Jordy Nelson being the only other viable option.
Besides Jones is a possession WR. No need for his kind here.

Jones' 40 time was the same as Sidney Rice and Dwayne Bowe...not all that bad. He is very strong. The reason he doesn't get more PT is he sometimes doesn't catch the ball when he should.
I like the ide, just not the receiver. Are there any speedy deep threats that can actually catch the ball that are FAs? We may not have to dole out top dollars for them and they may have the opportunity as a #2 or #3 in San Francisco. Time to check the FA thread...
ASSUMING, the new CBA keeps FA at 4 years, some FA WRs.....
Lance Moore
Donald Driver
Santana Moss
Terrell Owens
Santonio Holmes
Steve Breaston
Steve Smith (NYG)
Braylon Edwards
Mike Sims Walker
Vincent Jackson
Malcom Floyd
James Jones
Sydney Rice
I dont see any of these guys getting tagged (again, assuming there is a franchise tag next year), though i guess Rice and Jackson and maaaaaybe Holmes are possibilities.
