Rice and Jackson are the only ones worth mentioning and I don't see any way their current teams let them leave. Even if they did, the bidding will get just crazy. Much rather draft a speedy rookie and let the new staff develop him.

honestly i dont see why rice is a good option. I think he is a decent reciever. I think he is overrated. He has had one good season with brett favre throwing to him. He needs to prove that it wasnt a fluke. He cant stay healthy either.

He has had one major injury. Unfortunately it came at a time that limited his season.

Rice is a stud. He would fit nicely on the 49ers. He made Favre and the Vikings a much better team when he was healthy last year.

ASSUMING, the new CBA keeps FA at 4 years, some FA WRs.....

Lance Moore
Donald Driver
Santana Moss
Terrell Owens
Santonio Holmes
Steve Breaston
Steve Smith (NYG)
Braylon Edwards
Mike Sims Walker
Vincent Jackson
Malcom Floyd
James Jones
Sydney Rice

I dont see any of these guys getting tagged (again, assuming there is a franchise tag next year), though i guess Rice and Jackson and maaaaaybe Holmes are possibilities.

There are some interesting names on that list, but I doubt NY or GB parts ways with Steve Smith and James Jones respectively. Young receivers on the rise and wil probably stay with their current teams, especially with Donald Driver getting older in the case of Green Bay.

After those two, the receivers that stand out the most to me are Santonio Holmes, Santana Moss, and Sydney Rice. Rice has really only had one good year and can't realistically demand too much on the FA market. He also didn't explode until he the Vikings got Favre and there were weapons all over the field for defense to concentrate on. With the right coach that can use the talent we have on offense (Gore, hopefully Westbrook is brought back, Davis, Walker, and Crabtree), Rice can come in and be in a similar situation. Santonio Holmes is another option, but I doubt he would leave NY to play for us. The Jets are set to be good for a few years. We have a lot of talent, but an uncertain future.

That leaves Santana Moss. He's been pretty steady for the Redskins in his entire tenure there (quietly having a 1,000 yard season), getting 800 yards or better each season, which is enough to make him a receiving god in San Francisco based on what we have seen since we traded away TO. He's older, but not old (like Isaac Bruce, Johnnie Morton, or a Darrell Jackson who was in decline), and perhaps in the right offense can have a few solid seasons for us while we develop a younger, speedy receiver that won't have to be drafted so early if we pick up a vet that can start with Crabtree.

Rice and/or Moss gives us the best option we have had in FA for a receiver since Antonio Bryant.

I like that idea alot. Moss is a speedster. Not elite speed as hes in his early 30s but he'd definitely be an awesome contrast to Crabtree and he wouldnt cost as much as a Vincent Jackson or whoever at 10 mil a year. I say get it done, Baalke.

I think the qb makes a reciever better. atleast a qb like favre does. Even since he has been back he has been average.
Might want to stay away from Holmes. The guy can produce on the field when he holds onto the ball but comes with his share of off the field problems.
I would love to get v.jack but realistically I want lance Moore or Holmes but would be huge upgrades for this team opposite of crabs
