I'm sure you are being sarcastic. We still have one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball, top tier players at catcher and 3B, a fine prospect at 1B in Brandon Belt, Melky Cabrera who has been among the league leaders in hits over the past three seasons, speed with good gap to gap power from Angel Pagan, and I still think that we will get solid contributions this year from both Brandon Crawford and Freddie Sanchez who should be back soon. Do we have the best roster in baseball? No, but to say we are one of the sh*ttiest isn't anywhere near the truth. I know that people are frustrated with the play so far this year, but you have to keep things in perspective based on the time of year it is. The season is barely one month old. Let's see where we are on June 1 before going over the edge.

Yeah, as long as we can hang around and be close enough I won't get too worried. I mean look at the Cardinals last year.. they looked like they had no shot and won it all. And us the year before, same thing. Better to hang around and catch fire late. Would be nice to have a good, fun squad all year tho huh..

Actually from seeing his posts in the past I dont think he was. The Giants have played poorly this season but are just 1 game under .500. Lincecum has been pretty awful, they havent hit with RISP, and they have lost WIlson and Panda. YET.. they are just one game under .500. They don't have a great roster by any stretch of the imaginiation but their pitching can keep them in the hunt... at least for a WC.

The frustrating part of this team is how inexperienced the position players are.

Were starting Hector Sanchez, Brandon Belt, Brett Pill, Emmanuel Burriss, Joaquin Arias, Brandon Crawford, Conor Gillaspie, and Gregor Blanco on a regular basis. Some of it is due to injuries, but I think some of it is just poor construction of an offensive roster. I have no issues with Sanchez, Belt, or Pill being up here. They can all hit, and need some Major League AB's. I just wish they werent relied upon to be producers in the 5-6 spots of the lineup every night.

Our offense consists of 4 nice Major League caliber hitters in Posey, Sandoval, Melky, and Pagan, but after that? Its a bunch of kids, and guys like Huff and Theriot who suck now.

With all the inexperience, I guess it shouldnt be a big surprise that we keep kicking the ball around and making mental errors.

I think its much more due to injuries than a poor construction of an offensive roster. Nobody expected Sandoval to break his hamate again, nobody expected Huff to have an anxiety disorder, and everybody expected Sanchez to be back early in the season. It's a much different starting roster with those three individuals. By mid to late June, our lineup should look like this:

Pagan - CF
Sanchez - 2B
Sandoval - 3B
Posey - C
Cabrera - RF
Belt - 1B
Huff/Pill/Blanco - LF
Crawford - SS

This is a much different lineup and I submit much stronger than what we have right now. The Giants just need to get healthy and I think they will be much better.

Too bad we can't go back and look at those posts saying that. I did take some grief when I said I would trade Timmy for Kershaw or Strasburg. Pretty sure most would be in that camp now though. Timmy will come back and pitch well. I just dont think he is a Top 10 guy anymore. Heck, he isnt even top 2 on our team anymore.
