IMO an elbow to the head is more dangerous than most punches.

To do that on a defenseless player, literally a sucker elbow.

Ok, I agree he didn't need to throw that elbow, but how was he defenseless? He was running to stand in the personal space of another man while he was getting hyphy. Harden knew exactly what he was doing. Again, MWP took it too far, but it's not like Harden was standing innocently and MWP brought the fight to him. Harden was doing what he does. He likes to get under peoples skin. He went in there to do just that, and MWP showed him who was boss. Dick move on MWP's part, but Harden wasn't innocent or defenseless.

Look up the term rabbit punch and find out why it is illegal in all fighting sports due to the chance of it being fatal. Harden is defenseless bc he is getting hit from behind and has no idea that Artest is going to throw an elbow.

Actually worse than a sucker punch considering how dangerous it is to get hitting the back of the head.

Harden wasn't innocent or defenseless?!?!?!

C'mon really?

I'm not talking about the technical rules of sport fighting. I'm talking about man rules. You jump in a man's space like Harden did, you should expect repercussions. I've already said MWP was way out of line for throwing the elbow like he did, but are you telling me if they were in a pick up game on the street that he would run up on him like that? I can 100% tell you he would not. I'll give you the defenseless part, but you have to give me the innocent. It's what the guy is known for. Just like MWP is known for being a crazy f**k.

You are reaching pretty far to some how defend this dirty act and lack of professionalism.

If the NFL is suspending coaches for condoning hurting players with legal hits, I wonder how the NBA will answer to Artests elbow to the back of the head on a defenseless player who sustained a concussion (we know ow dangerous those are).

This is the NBA, league of professionals. Not street basket ball where Artest would probably get shot for doing that to the wrong person.

I'm not reaching, nor am I defending him. What he did was wrong. Plain and simple. But Harden knew exactly what he was doing, and for the most part, it worked. He went right in there to f**k with MWP, and the only part about it that backfired was he got leveled.

And like Gary Payton said this morning on the radio, in the NBA 15 years ago, a league of professionals as you call it, there would have been a full fledged brawl after it, and nobody would have been suspended, besides possibly MWP.

And if this game was on the street, MWP would still be the craziest mofo out there, and if anybody got shot, he'd probably be the one shooting. I'm not his biggest fan or anything, but let's not pretend like he's some hollywood NBA thug. He's no doubt as crazy as they come. He's from the projects in Queens NY. He watched a guy get stabbed in the heart with a broke off table leg and die on the court. And that was in a youth league game.

So harden knew Artest would elbow him in the back of the head?

15 years ago the NBA was already suspending players for leaving the bench and for brawls. The fact that players were getting suspended for "fair" fights doesn't help Artests case for his elbow to be considered "manly" .

Artest probably didn't pul that s**t in Queens bc he was scared to get stabbed , now he does it in the NBA since he knows he won't get stabbed. He isn't getting any street credibility from me for elbowing a defenseless player or for going after a 150 lb white guy in the stands in Detroit instead of Ben Wallace who owned him and Artest backed down like a lil b***h right before the Detroit brawl.

Stephen Jackson was the one who most likely saved Artest from getting seriously hurt when he decided to go choke a lil white guy and not the huge dude next to him who was the actual one who threw the soda at him.

I'm really not interested in going on and on about this with you, nor defending MWP's antics in the Mallace in the Palace. But that fact that you called the guy huge that threw the soda in pretty funny. I know he wasn't 6'7", 270+ lbs, like Artest at the time. And he went after that guy cuz he thought he threw it. Not because he chose a smaller guy. lol

AMEN. Even suggesting that Haden wasnt defensless is laughable and stupid. Artest needs to be punished severely for his act. 10 games

I hate the Lakers but I agree with Stoney. Harden was def trying to get under MWP's skin and it worked. Not saying MWP did nothing wrong or that he shouldn't get suspended/fined but Harden is not completely innocent in that regard. Either way, dumb move by MWP especially with his background.

Artest looked like a p***y when Wallace was in his face. Didn't he also deck lil JJ last year in the playoffs? What a tough crazy mofo to deck that lil guy, elbow someone in the back of the head and back down from Wallace. What a real cool thug from Queens. Oh and he saw someone get stabbed, real tough and cool.

NBA isnt a playground and will protect players so all teams don't have an enforcer to take out the other teams best player. Therefore Big bad Artest who is scared of bigger players but will deck JJ should get suspended for a LONG time.

Please tell me how tough Artest was with Wallace in his face?

Artest put his tail between his legs and laid down like a b***h.
Don't act like personal space is sacred in a contact sport. It happens all the time, on every play. Kobe gets his "personal space" invaded all the time and never responds with an elbow.

personal space? the guy was rubbing up on MWP. Harden is a POS anyways. Always talkin s**t.

That was Bynum who laid out JJ. lol

And seriously, man. I can barely stand MWP myself, but you're trippin if you think he's never proven how absolutely bat s**t crazy throughout his entire career. Have you actually followed his career? You just took one incident from the Malace and isolated it, inaccurately listed him in the JJ incident last season, and that's your proof that he's not a crazy beast of a man? He's a 6'7" 270 lbs lunatic. Get real.

And again, I think he should be suspended and was an absolute dumb f**k for throwing a completely unnecessary elbow. I think you're missing that about the point I'm trying to make.

YouTube Artest clothesline JJ Barea.

I'm not sold on Artest getting all the street credibility, , especially for hitting a defenseless JJ and Harden and backing down from Wallace.

Had he stood up like a man to Wallace and not backed down and literally laid down like a b***h, I would respect Artest.

But he didn't , end of story.

A real crazy mother f**ker would deck Wallace and not care how big Wallace is. But he isn't crazy, it's all calculated BS by Artest.

Grabbing someones face isn't decking them. When you lay them out, on the deck, is decking them. Ala Bymun's hit.

But we'll just agree to disagree on this one. If it was me and MWP about to throw down, I for sure wouldn't be stepping up to the challenge because I didn't believe he's a crazy b*****d from the hood. Props to you for being the guy who would. I'm sure you'd tell him straight to his face how much of a b***h he is and pop him one in the kisser.

Of course he would step up to us, we are smaller than him.

Like i said, if he was actually crazy he would have decked Wallace but he didn't bc he was scared and a truly crazy mofo is not scared of anything, hence crazy. It's all calculated drama.

Btw when he ran into the stands it looked like he didn't even know what to do in a fight. Reminded me when Jordan and Reggie Miller got into it and they scratched each other instead of brawling with fists. Stephen Jackson sure knew what to do.
