In what should be a down year replacing so much talent, UT should still be able to win it's conference and go to a BCS game. This defense may be the best in the country and next years squad may be the best UT has ever had with #1 overall recruit Malcolm Brown committing giving UT it's best RB prospect since Ricky.
Also signed a deal to play USC. Add to that the ND deal and the tea leaves set up for Texas to consider becoming independant in the future.
GO HORNS!!!!!

I do expect Both Texas and OU to have good seasons. OU has a heck of a schedule this season.

Woo, you guys play UCLA this year? That should be an easy win. They looked pretty bad against K-State.

Hell yea Hook 'Em Horns, I thought Gilbert looked decent against Rice, there is a lot of work to be done though if they want to challenge for the National Championship.

Not terrible for a first game with a new system and QB, but I was dissapointed in the defense. While the TDs were fluky at best, Rice generally was able to move the ball. This defense has the potential to be suffocating and I didn't see it. Also not sold on the Oline...again. They couldn't get a push when needed most and we're already dangerously thin there. An injury or two and this team is in trouble. We'll learn more in 2 weeks against TT.

I think it will be a tough game, they always play us tough in Lubbock. The defense hasn't adjusted as fast as expected with the new players, esp against the spread. If TTU scores early and gets up a few scores I question whether UT is currently built or ready to be a pass heavy attack. I'm still not sold on the Oline and wouldn't be surprised to see TTU win.

That's a fantastic article. Shows why Texas is is sosuccesful with Brown as CEO. What it made me think is how Singletary could be that type of coach....if only he surrounded himself with better, more innovative coaches to handle the ins and outs/ Xs and Os, while he did bigger picture stuff.

Yeah, I pretty much came away with the same thought.
Mack Brown = one helluva CEO, runs the Texas program like a Fortune 500 program (well, one that doesn't need a bailout).
Its amazing to me that Mack Brown really led Texas into becoming "Texas" rather then "UT." I mean you guys aren't even really a college team, you are literally the representation of the best football players from Texas (which along with FL and CA are the 3 hotbeds of football talent). Your recruiting is just absolutely insane, pretty much fill your class with 4/5 Stars when they are juniors. TCU does a good job of getting the best scraps, and Tech could compete when they had a brilliant coach. I'm guessing the demise of SMU also helped, and A&M use to be decent during the 90's didn't they?
USC had to cheat to get that kind of talent. And FL seems to have a revolving door on who has the state (Miami, FSU, and currently Florida). Whereas Texas has essentially maintained it for nearly a decade with no stop in sight.
Anyways, IMO, you guys are always a failure if you don't win a NC with your talent pool Where as with our talent pool, we are a success if we win 4 games
