This made my day.

One of the biggest, most irrational, anti-A's trolls on the scout.com board is getting absolutely destroyed.

Taylor with a three run HR today.
He and now Carter with HRs this ST.
Neither are tearing the cover off the ball so far though. Each has three hits with both hitting in the low .200s with no BBs. Course not gonna take too much into ST, both likely will start the year at AAA.
Boy look at the near major league ready talent AAA SAC could have by midseason...
C-Donaldson
1B-Carter/Peterson
2B-Cardenas/Sogard
LF-Taylor, Doolittle, C.Brown
SP-Ross, Figueroa, Ross, Simmons
...so reinforcements are on their way at least by mid 2010 and could see most if not all of them here in SEP.
Read at AN about what Slusser said during the "Buan-cast" today that she thinks if Chaez can stay healthy, he could get into the lineup possibly 4 times a week at 1B and that Barton should be hearing footsteps
Chavez if he could stay healthy which I'm not buying, and by a Carter in AAA...guessing each could challenge Barton but I hope it's not the case as I think this could be a breakout year for Barton if the last half of last season was an indication that he's finally starting to regain the form/confidence that made him a top prospect.
I do think Chavez if he can stay healthy would rather see him get some time in the OF especially if this early injury bug that's Crisp is going thru lingers or continues and or some of the OFs the A's have aren't hitting well enough or with enough power although that'll go against what the A's are looking at for this season with speed and D. I can only remember two time where Chavez played OF his entire career.

Silicon Valley Leadership Group endorses the A's moving to SJ.
Not surprised, I think this was the same group that had a poll done of the corporations down in the South Bay where they polled and 3/4 of the corps that don't sponsor either bay area baseball teams would support a SJ based team, aka the A's.
Said it again, this is the last thing SFG wants, to have actual competition here locally which they really don't get right now due to the A's own fault with their lack of a commitment to Oakland and having to play in a run down venue with a low attendance, the latter two is again their fault specially the low attendance as I do believe with many others here that the A's owners since the Haas family have done all they can to turn off the A's fans in the bay area.

I wonder when that announcement is going to come. It was supposed to come a month ago.
If Bud Selig screws the A's once again I don't even know what I'm going to do.

What ML posted...
Quote:
Major League Baseball is currently reviewing site options and territorial rights for the Oakland A’s. Pending a favorable conclusion, a vote by the citizens of San Jose will be necessary. It is anticipated that this will occur in November 2010. The earliest a ballpark would open is Spring 2014.

ML's projected 2014 opening day would mean that ground breaking for a new park would be late 2011-early 2012 since it takes usually 2+ years to build a park.
Course the A's at this point are projected to build a smaller park, capacity maybe mid 30K at the most and as low as 32K and with most images being it a two tier park ala Wrigley and PNC where you'd have the announce booth at the top of the park.
The only difference would the A's would have field level suites 15 rows behind home plate.
The one good thing is that Cisco is still behind a SJ park even if it's not on their huge parcel of land in Fremont and if they are willing to spend the 120 million over 30 year deal they had originally...be huge to help pay for the cost of the park.

Damn that means 4 more seasons of crappy attendence, crappy environemnt to attend a game and being ignored and worse harrased by the Giant homer media.
What if we won the division in 2011, 2012, and 2013 and had one of the lowest attendances in baseball each year?
It's frustrating. I wish MLB would hurry the f**k up and we could get the show on the road. If they tell us to build a new one in Iakland it will take even longer and I think Beane will probably leave town. I remember hearing how he was burned out over having to constantly trade away his star players and how Wolff promised him they wouldn't have to do that anymore once the get a new stadium. Could be bulls**t but isn't inconceivable.

Even if the A's do get a new park, I don't think the media ass kissing SFG gets will change much. The media takes it up the ass from the SFG PR machine and has done so since AT&T opened and the whole circus with Bonds took place at the beginning of 2000s. Will it change if the A's get a new park in SJ? I doubt it. NBC11 the one station based in SF airs SFG games albeit a very limited amount of SF games. The one TV station here in Oakland KTVU2 may have the biggest on air homers in regards to the team especially with the sports guy Ibanez, and that's after they aired games on their station for decades, also think they own a part of the SFG org too just as KNBR does. Every other TV station here is based on SF and you know where their bias will lie even though they will admit there is no bias which I don't believe.
SJ Merc which would be the "home" paper of a SJ A's team owns part of the SJG minor league team.
So I've said before the SFG have you could say monopolized the main media outlets here.
I do think it's gonna happen, A's moving to SJ. Makes way too much sense for MLB to get into that silicon valley revenue which is on the sidelines.
The one good thing about the two tier park which is what the A's plan Cisco Field or whatever park is built is it'll cost a lot less without the building of a second deck in between the two so it'll probably will be built faster also.
For example PNC, the only other two tier park built out of all the newer parks built the past two decades, first broke ground in April/99 and finished in just over 24 months, faster by 3-4 months compared to the other modern new parks built since Camden. Compared that to the recently opened Target Field, MIN's new park which broke ground in May/07 and finished this past offseason, just over 2.5 months.
The two NYC parks built recently. NYM's Citi Field broke ground in July/06 and construction stopped DEC/08, 2.5 months. New YS broke AUG/06 and basically finished the same time Citi Field did.
Agreed about another 3-4 years left at the coliseum and if a new park is built for the A's, you can guarantee that the A's ownership won't do much to improve the coliseum experience the last years the A's remain playing there. Already mention a few times it's way behind technology wise with the outdated video screens which I don't think they've upgraded since the renovation back in the mid 90s and the LCD scoreboards around the park which almost every sports venue has now which the coliseum still uses the ancient scoreboards they installed I believe earlier in the 2000s, probably around 02.
As for Beane, I remember he had the chance to go to BOS what 6-7 years ago but didn't want to. He said he liked the challenge of working with a small payroll and the thought of being the underdog. Now I did hear the same thing in recent years that he may have had a change in heart and doesn't like to be near the bottom when it deals with revenues/small payroll but he does now own part of the team so I doubt he's going anywhere anytime soon, least he'll probably remain owner of the team and if he decides to give up the GM job, somebody like Forst will take over whos been Beane's right hand man for the good part of the last half decade.
Don't know how much Beane wants to remain a GM? If a new park gets opened and the A's get more revenue, that's still at least another 4-5 years away and is Beane gonna last that long, I don't know.
Funny thing is 2014 would be the last year of control to some of our youngsters like a Anderson/Cahill if they remain the majors from now on and be in the ARB years of the likes of a Carter/Taylor and other of the A's top hitting prospects who'll probably arrive sometime this season or early next.

True he's looked awful so far this ST.
Gave up a 5 run lead in the 9th and his control was shoddy but do have hope that last year after coming back from TJS, he pitched well at AZL.
-7 GP, 11.2 IP, 12 hits, 5 ERs, 4 BBs, 16 Ks.
...so I'm not giving up on him as I know some A's fans are beginning to do. He's just turned 24 and although he'll probably start the year at A+, he could be if he's right again like he was pre TJ at AAA by season's end. The A's are gonna fast track him although hope they don't hurry him, the guy still has electric stuff and is just about 1.5 years removed from his elbow injury.
If he's struggling by the time the all star break hits in the minors, then I'll start to worry but as long as he's feeling good after all these outings, then that's good news.

A's win both SS games today.
Whacky finish against SD where 1B had the final out of what would've been a tie game but muffed the throw to the P cover first base and A's win.
Barton and Gio with nice games, Barton had a 3/3 FRI so he's finally starting to hit after a slow start.
