SF Giants Off Season Thread

Baseball America has a nice recap of the Giants 2009 draft. Its a paid site so I cant provide link but I can summarize:

Best hitter: Tommy Joseph would they called one of top HS hitters in country
Most Power Chris Dominguez who they basically said has off the charts power

Most likely to be in majors first: Jason Stoffel - 4th rd pick out of Arizona - RP
... Stoffel throws 95, posted a 0.90 era and had a K to BB ratio of 19-1 in 20 innings pitching for 2 different teams in his first year in minors

Best fastball.. Stoffel, Wheeler, Matt Graham (6th rd pick) - all hit 95
Best seconday pitch.. Stoffel - say his slider is unhittable at times

Best athlete and fastest runner.. Evan Crawford their 9th rd pick

I don't know, I think Neal could be possibly one year away. His plate discipline is that improved.

We shall see . I wonder, however, why the Giants did not move him up to AA last year like they did their other top prospects like Posey, Alderson, Bumgarner, and Crawford. Instead, they kept him in A ball all year. To me, that is telling. Its possible he might be a year away but he will have to tear it up again this yr.

In my experience watching SJ prospects it seems sometimes they keep them in SJ all year and then skip through AA quickly, and in some cases move up to AA like crawford and then get bumped to AAA. I'm not really sure what their policies are, but I don't think Neal being held at A is too much of a sign.

LOL The point is.. Neal is not going to be on the big team anytime soon and certainly not before 2011. We shall see if he comes up then but I would stand by my statement that none of our top prospects will be on the team for 2 years.
