Damn! I made my thread a lil too long and you beat me to the punch haha.

Ill have the mods lock or merge it.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes for Heatley-Thornton to click. What are they going to combine for? 80 goals?

I sure hope it's something high. We can't fizzle out like we did at the end of last season and seemingly be unable to score. Nabby can't do everything for us. But, gah, I'm excited! :D

I get Versus so I'll be able to watch it Live. :)
They shall be the first victim on our quest for another President's Trophy!

Fixed.
I just can't seem to get very excited for the season because I know they are going to do great in the regular season but everyone knows that what really matters for the sharks is how they do in the playoffs. If they don't win it all this year or at least get the finals i don't think they will ever win it.

I can speak for must of us and say.........

wake me up when the playoff are here. We will be good until April...then they have to prove they were that good for a reason.

Rob Black = Captain (i can dig it)

Danny Boyle = Assistant (should have been captain)

Joe Thornton = Assistant

^Really a slap in the face to Patty, who I think will be gone after this year (if not the deadline)

Also, Torrey Mitchell is out for a month because of lingering issues with his leg

I do think Thornton could make a slightly better Captain, but eh.. it's close.

Opening day roster is as follows:

Forwards: 12
Ryane Clowe
Dany Heatley
Manny Malhotra
Patrick Marleau
Jamie McGinn
Brad Staubitz
Joe Thornton
Scott Nichol
Jed Ortmeyer
Joe Pavelski
Devin Setoguchi
Jody Shelley

Defense: 7
Rob Blake
Dan Boyle
Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Joe Callahan
Kent Huskins
Doug Murray
Jason Demers

Goalies: 2
Evgeni Nabokov
Thomas Greiss

Apparently, Torrey Mitchell is NOT on IR though. If he hasn't been sent down to the minors or anything, that means we still have room to add one player sometime if we'd like.

IR: 1
TORREY MITCHELL

Nevermind. According to the Sharks site, they've updated that.. and Mitchell will be on IR, with Ferriero and Demers making the team -- Both will play tonight, apparently. (Edits are in bold).

Check out the lines, too.

"LINES
During today’s morning skate in Colorado, Head Coach Todd McLellan had the team in the following lines:

Heatley – Thornton – Setoguchi
Marleau – Pavelski – Clowe
Shelley – Nichol – Ortmeyer
McGinn – Malhotra – Ferriero

Vlasic – Blake
Murray – Boyle
Huskins – Demers

Nabokov - Greiss"

I think it makes sense. Nice Balance. Nice checking line. I'm interested in seeing how much McGinn has improved -- I really liked this kid last year. I'm also intrigued with Ferriero, wondering what he'll do for us, as well as our new line of Defense.

I thought Malhotra should be the 3rd line centerman ahead of Nichol. Eh... but what do I know...

Anyway, I'm predicting the goals scored for each player (top 6 forwards only):

Heatley - 52
Thornton - 28
Setoguchi - 35
Marleau - 31
Pavelski - 20
Clowe - 24

Heck no

This summer Jumbo said that its just a letter

He isnt captain material because he isnt that good of a leader

Blake can be that leader, see how he was stepping up for guys last season. Getting into opposing players faces.

I think Boyle should have been captain, that guy was seriously pissed after last season, he doesnt like to lose.

Im sure other players dont like to lose, but Boyle is the kind of guy to get up in the locker room and speak his mind.
