Bailey and Gallagher make the A's roster and Barton/Gio go to AAA.
Not surprising, no room for Barton and Gio at this point is still very early in ST mode as he missed a lot of time last month due to an injury.
Bailey did very well and with Devine placed on the 60 day DL and might need surgery, A's need another RH power arm and Bailey last year dominated when moved ot the pen in the minors.

I read on AN that the San Jose mayor (with approval from the city council) is going to ask Bud Selig to get rid of the Giants rights to San Jose, and Santa Clara could be getting into the act as well. And with Bud Selig's "committee" maybe that's just show before he gives the A's south bay territorial rights. Maybe I was wrong about you Bud Selig, if you do this for the A's, all is forgiven in my eyes.
Ninerpride I know that you still would like to see the A's stay in Oakland but personally I would love to see the A's be able to tap into the resources available to us in the South Bay and get out from under the shadow of the Giants. Maybe even be able to resign a player like a Holliday. Be able to have a media dedicate to the A's and not pretending to be both but really just catering to the Giants.
For me, since I'm moving away to college away from California anyways I could give two sh*ts about the A's moving from Oakland. I'm exstatic with any move that could potentially allow them to be able to resign their homegrown stars. Frankly, that's a lot to be excited about.

Yeah, read that too on ML's blog.
I was very pro Oakland back during 02 and 03 but the signs are there that the A's ownership never wanted to stay here, I've listed what's happened in the past before.
So yeah, I'd be all for whatever it takes to keep the A's in the bay area, even if it's SJ. Dream scenario would for a IDLF working with a potential new Oakland mayor like Perata would get a deal done to keep the A's in Oakland with a new waterfront park near JLS but the chances of that are slim to none and slim has left the building.
As for moving to SJ, I doubt the A's would resign Holliday in any circumstance. He's a Boras client and he's gonna want probably a 5 year deal worth 20+, he's a damn good player but I wouldn't pay that amount unless he puts up Pujols type #s this season.
Media? Well glad the A's are moving to CSNCA finally their own TV station and moved to a semi sports radio station here in 860 which has some sports programming but certainly not on the level of other city's sports radio stations even KNBR and having it a legit 50K watts does help. But the media here will always be biased towards the Giants, they got themselves entrenched with everybody here.
Not surprising after the A's announced their intention to move to the South Bay a few years ago with the Fremont deal, they suddenly moved to the NBC affiliate based in the city of SJ last season and now the SJ Merc is buying a stake into their minor league team there just this past week...so even if the A's do somehow make the move down to the South Bay, SF already has done what they can to get the media down south to be pro Giants.
I could care less though, what's done is done, SF will always be the team on top when it deals with coverage and the A's second. I've learned to live with that that it won't change especially if the un media savy A's don't learn from the mistakes they've been doing for pretty much the past 15 or so years since the Haas family sold the team and the PR for the franchise has gone down the toilet.
If the A's get a new park and just are even in the top 15-20, I'd take it in terms of payroll. Could see them being another solid mid market franchise but even with a new stadium won't be able to keep all their stars like CLE has been since they opened Jacobs Field. They can keep maybe a couple of their big names past arb years but most of their big name stars leave ala Manny, Thome, CC, and others.

Watching BBTN and Kurkjian said Anderson is his rookie to watch and the 09 A's could possibly be the 08 Rays.

then we can't possibly be that team if the pundits hype us up as that team. They're never right. This years Tigers (of 06) or Tampa Bay Rays will be a team no one expects to do anything (like with those teams I listed) and come out of nowhere to have great years.

Great to see Chavy hit a bomb today. Sure hope he's ready.

It would certainly help. Holliday, a healthy Chavy, Cust, Giambi and a bounce back and mostly healthy year from Buck would be awesome.
Now if we could only get our pitching straightened out. I have faith in you Curt Young!!

I'd take 120 games maximum from Chavez this season.
Now it probably won't be all at 3B, he'll see some time at 3B.
If healthy for those games, he'll be alright and the best option for the franchise.
As of now, really don't see any long term answer at 3B for this org. Unless guys like a Cardenas(SS/2B) or Donaldson(C) can move to 3B in the minors and be effective there.

Gaudin would I would hope replace either Outman or Cahill.
Anderson stays, he's been the most impressive out of any of the A's young pitchers and that includes those who pitched here in the bigs last season in Gallagher and Gio.
Duke
Gallagher
Eveland
Gaudin
Anderson
...that's how I'd like to see the rotation and when Duke comes back, put Cahill back at AAA.
