Well looked like the offense the A's had for that July-AUG stretch last season when they couldn't score jack.
Not gonna overreact to one bad offensive game.
Not surprised either the A's didn't win this game tonight, they just can't win season openers, haven't won a season opener since 04 as the TV guys mentioned.
Braden, pitched as well as you could honestly hope for. If he can pitch like this for most of this season, think he could be a solid 4/5 for this team.

Also, worried about TEX this season.
They IMO have by far the best offense in that division but only if they could find average pitching, they'll be in contention.
Course they have by most regards the best with a lot of top level prospects minor league system and we'll be seeing at least a half a dozen supposed studs coming into the bigs in the near future and we're already seeing one in that stud SS prospect Andrus who they got in the ATL deal for TEX.

Also, please get FP out my f**king TV.
Enough of these "analysts" who are SFG fans ala Urban on my TV while before, during, and after watching the A's.

Braden pitched okay for the most part. He doesn't seem to be able to put away batetrs very quickly though. he can get ahead in the count put a couple of strikes on them but can't seem to get the to wither strikeout or get bad wood on the ball and get them to ground out or fly out very quickly. There were an innordinate amount of fouls hit from what I saw.
Interestingly, Saunders is a guy that I hope Braden could become in the near future. A back of the rotation type whoc an eat innings and maybe not have overpowerign stuff and be abig strikeout pitcher but who cinsistently induces weak outs.
He needs to workon getting a little less of the strikezone so hitters cant get good wood on the ball and learn to put hitters away more quickly.

Braden has a much lower ceiling than Saunders who last season won 17 games.
I'd take 12-13 wins max from Braden with a era in the mid 4s.
Honestly, I'd take 3 runs given up in 5-6 IP from Braden any time.

Yeah, order wasn't what most A's fans thought would be written out.
But no matter what lineup was out there, A's weren't gonna win this game against what kind of effort Saunders put out there.
Hopefully it doesn't become a trend with him owning the A's like two other LAA SPs in Lackey and Santana who the A's just can't hit over the past few seasons.

Saw/heard on ESPN Radio/TV with Greenberg MON morning and he chose the A's as his AL West pick.
That maybe a bad thing considering he has a history if you listened to show of being a jinx with his pick.

Sure Braden went 6 innings, but he was in trouble a lot and gave up a lot of hits. Against a better offense that would have been really ugly IMO.
