Simple question and poll, is Kap the right guy, he clearly hasn't looked great, not horrible, but he is being paid like a franchise QB, and quite frankly, he hasn't lived up to it yet. I'm worried we will cut him lose in March if Harbs is fired/leaves for a NCAA job.

NO.
He is super shaky from the pocket, does not make reads well, does not do progressions, isn't always accurate, does not get the team up to the line of scrimmage in time and often has to take costly timeouts early in the game that we waste. He is jittery and has regressed IMO. He never was good from the pocket.
He has a big league arm yes. He has big league legs for sure. He is big and strong. But he is not a really great QB by any stretch of the imagination.

No not at all. When Harbs leaves I don't see him keeping his job anymore. What's the ramifications like cutting him with that contract

I'm beginning to think no. I also think his future is tied to Harbaugh and I really don't want to see Jim go. With this defense all we need is a passing game and it simply isn't coming together, it hasn't since 2013. At this point I'd like them to draft a QB early in 2015, perhaps give Kap some more time with better o-line play but his pocket game even with time to throw is too inconsistent. I have him at about 13th or 14th best QB in the NFL and much of that is derived from his run threat. Please don't send me threats and insults via PM. Thanks.

One word - NO.
Said it before this season and was hoping we would draft a legit QB such as Garoppolo this year to push him to see what he's got before deciding whether to give him the big contract. In short, you need to know the kind of animal you are dealing with in a matter of speech. Kap can be exciting to watch when the game is going his way, but that's about it. Other than that, he is a QB that lacks any substance. By that I mean the inability in reading defenses, can't manage time, can't lead the huddle, immature, no poise (panics), no pocket presence, lacks accuracy and ball placement on finesse passes such as his high fades.
Looking at this train wreck that has been unfolding in front of our eyes, we need to salvage and rectify the mess. Draft a QB high next year (2nd round), let him compete with Kap in camp. Pending on how he does, if he totally outplays Kap, just do a Russell Wilson and start the new guy, bench Kap to be the back-up and trade him in the offseason.

I'll say this:
It's possible Kaepernick is not the answer (I hold out hope because of OL issues).
But I would also say that Wilson is no better long term for Seattle for his own reasons.
Only difference is that we couldn't get it done with CK, and Wilson was able to luck out.
I saw on .NET some guys questioning Wilson as the answer too.
The 2012 season was some freak mirage where the success of RG3 at all costs sprouted guys like Kap and Wilson in the most unexpected way.

BTW, as much as I like and support Kap, the way that he became a starting QB for us would leave me no remorse if he had to leave via similar situation.

Sorry bro, that is BS.
Even if you don't like Wilson's game, the guy can still generate over 400 yards of offense by himself to get it done. The guy has poise and is able to adapt his game accordingly during a game.
I am not saying he is the second coming of Joe Montana, but I would take him over Kap any day.

agree 100%. I've been trying, for weeks, to get people to see that it's not just Roman and the o line at fault here. I think with Kap, what we see us what we get. Unpolished inconsistent play from the pocket. A great running threat who can't read defenses, throw shorter/quick passes down the middle or hit guys in stride with consistency. Can't throw with an arch over defenders at the line and at the point of reception with consistency. Gets flustered and can't recover. Can't get comeback wins. Is stuck on Crabtree in clutch moments. Makes too many mistakes from the pocket in clutch moments and in the redzone. He's better when limited to less than 20 passes with more running. Better killing teams with his legs. This is a passing league now. With all this WR talent we may need a better pocket passer. More refined.

I'm not a "fan" of Wilson in the sense of respecting the long term legitimacy of his game. I don't think Cam, Wilson, RG3 or Kap will have longevity in the NFL as mobile QB's.. Me thinks, as Steve Young said, these guys will have to adjust and play as pocket QB's or will eventually get shut down.

I think once we start winning again threads and posts like these will go away.
I swear there are so many fair weather fans here.
I think Kap has improved a lot from last season, looks great when we give him the time he needs to throw.

Man, s*** just got real on the zone.
It seems like the fanbase is overwhelmingly against Kap for the first time since he took over. Don't recall it being this bad at any point last year (and there were some s*** games last year, like the Panthers game at Candlestick I dropped $600 for my sister and I to go to ).
I guess I'll have to think about it some more. At what point do I start to buy into the possibility he isn't our guy?

I hear what you're saying.
Something was surprising to me today:
While I respect the effort to turn Kap into a pocket QB (and I saw numerous broken plays where he never took his eyes off of his receivers), I still thought there should have been one or two delayed scrambles, no?
Why was there not one designed run for Kap to make something happen out of nothing? I like the fact that we don't do it much, but figured we should treat every game like the playoffs in that we should at least have these plays ready if need be, esp. late in the game like that.
We could have won the game literally without it, but if a QB or more importantly an OFFENSE struggles with pass protection the way it did, that would seem to be the answer.
With Wilson there is no question of him taking it upon himself to do it, but with Kap it seems like it has to be called in from Roman for it to happen.
Say what you want about CK, but he can generate offense on his own as we saw in the NFCC.
