It was Jacksonville... And he had some good games there, but just kept getting beat up because of their bad OL

Last year he was totally new to this offense. Looked bad and uncomfortable. With a year under his belt, you see he has afford himself more time in the pocket on just making an accurate throw instead of trying too much to figure out where to go with the ball. I think he's a keeper for at least a backup qb. He can rejuvenate his career and be a starter again. He has talent, a very good arm and mobility at the position.

...And so it starts, all crappy teams have QB controversies, because they have no QB.


Things are bad enough, with our make shift O-line, and a paper thin linebacking core, do we really need a QB controversy? Let it go, back Kaep, let him play, give him a fair chance in the new offense, lets not panic completely, a QB controversy, is the final step down the cellar stairs.

This Gab> Kaep is laughable. Come on now, Gabbert plays okay against an incomplete houston defense and your ready to crown him a starter. Gabbert may have not been so comfortable in the pocket if Watt and Clowney were in his face. You have to keep the first preseason game in a very tight perspective.

Kaep may not have had that many passing opportunities but his drop back, stance, balance and throwing motion looked very crisp to me. Sure there was an over throw but the timing will get to where it needs to be, when it needs to be there.

Developing a QB is a lost art. The Jags of 2011-2013 were as close as the 2005 Niners you can get. The least talented team in their history. They throw Gab in there an say be successful. It's a joke that has happened to countless QBs who have great talent. Alex was stuck with it. It happened to Tim Couch. Blaine needed to sit for at least 2 seasons but that's not the reality of the NFL QB now. He was just 20 an coming from a true spread offense at Mizzou. Same as Alex. Finally he had the time to learn the game get reps an has talent an coaches around him. There's nothin worse than declaring for the draft and then hearing "hey!!! Welcome to Jacksonville"!!! if your a QB!

Ok, congrats to JT, Logan and our QB coaches for getting gabbert back up to NFL level. It was to my surprise, and i am delighted it worked out for him...and for us. No question that he can come in now if kap goes down (with a hammy, high ankle, or the like for 4-6 weeks) and can win a couple games against non elite teams during that time. I feel a whole lot better on that issue. Otherwise, kap was left hanging in the wind, with no legit backup, and that had disaster written all over it for us.

It wasn't gabbert's fault, but thumbs down to coaching staff for leaving gabbert in so long. He's our #2. Now, let's move along and get kap some reps with our OL, WRs, TEs, and RBs. Harbaw did not do that last yr, and when season came, kap was not ready. All harbaw did was establish our #2 and #3 QB. But kap got little or no time on the field. And it showed the first 4, or some could say, the first 6 -8 games of the season. It got him off on the wrong foot. GABs is #2. Now let's get kap all the PT he needs in PS to be ready for Sept season to start.
