53 man roster

Maybe there will be some June cuts, don't know who though ... I'm somewhat intrigued w/ woodson at the SS position & cutting whitner ..,whitner is only 28?? While woodson has 1 year left in the tank or so.. interested to see how this 53 man roster plays out .
QB - Kaepernick, McCoy, Tolzien
RB - Gore, Hunter, James, Dixon, Miller
TE - Davis, McDonald, Morrah
WR - Crabtree, Boldin, Patton, Williams, Jenkins
OL - Staley, Iupati, Goodwin, Boone, A.Davis, Kilgore, Looney, Bykowski
DL - Justin, R.McDonald, Carradine, I.Williams, Dial, Dorsey, Tukuafu
OLB - Aldon, Brooks, Lemonier, Haralson
ILB - Willis, Bowman, Fleming, Skuta
CB - Rogers, Culliver, Brown, Asomugha, Cox, Brock
S - Reid, Whitner, Spillman, Dahl, McBath
ST - Jennings, Dawson, Lee

IR/PUP - Lattimore, Manningham

I don't think Trenton Robinson makes the team. Barring any injuries, the last spot may come down to Tukuafu vs. Wilhoite. I think how well Fleming does returning from injury will key into that decision as well.

I think we will leave Jennings in for this year and maybe work McDonald in a few snaps each practice and then get rid of Jennings to clear some cap space and a extra roster spot. LS is too important of a position to immediately give it to a guy that is a rookie and isn't his true position. Good versatility. How much cap space does Jennings take up?

Jennings wants to play until he is 40. Jennings is the best long snapper in the league. Some guy who "has some experience" doesn't just come in and replace that.
Jennings hones his craft at practice. Long snapping is his job. McDonald is going to be 99% focused at TE. He might practice a bit as an emergency option, but he is not a dedicated long snapper, nor will he be in the future. Having a guy spit duties between a primary job and long-snapper is a recipe for disaster. Games have been won and lost on botched snaps. Jennings is more than worth a roster space.
My guess is Tolzien will be gone, Tukuafu gone, and Jennings gone. I really believe Okoye makes it instead of Tukuafu, McDonald can longsnap, and no need for Tolzien with Colt and BJ.

Would be GREAT if Bykowski was good enough to make the team.

I hear McDonald can kick the ball pretty far too. So let's cut Lee and Dawson to free up some more roster space.

OTC, you see Fleming as an ILB? I always though of him as a OLB.

+1
My 53 man right now.

QB- Kap, McCoy, Tolzien
RB- Gore, Hunter, James, Miller, Dixon (Lattimore on PUP to start)
WR- Crabs, Boldin, AJ, Mario, Patton, Williams/Moore(One would return punts if James cant)
TE- Davis, McDonald, Celek
C- Goodwin, Kilgore
OG- Iupati, Boone, Looney
OT- Staley, Davis, Bykowski, Marquadt

DL- Justin, Ray Mac, Ian, Dorsey, Tank, Dial/Dobbs
OLB- Brooks, Aldon, Lemonier, Haralson
ILB- Willis, Bowman, Skuta, Wilhoite, Moody
CB- Rogers, Culliver, Brown, Asomugha, Cox
S- Whitner, Reid, Dahl, Spillman

ST- Dawson, Lee, Jennings

I can see us cutting both Williams and Moore, keeping an extra Safety.

It is not smart to keep 8 OL, we usually keep 9. We got lucky with no injuries, so we should keep the best 9 O-lineman.

#54. I doubt Lattimore gets put on IR. Sounds like he should be ready to play by the beginning of the season or at worst a few weeks in. Whether or not they actually have him dress for games is a different story though.

PUP IR for the year. Harbaughs interview was he is fine with rushing the mental part of the game, but wants him to slow down the physical and not see the field until he is 100%. That means re shirt freshman year.

It is apparent they will keep 9 OL on the roster, and maybe only suit up 7 or 8 for game days. I think the swing if an OT goes down, Boone would be the best option, and Looney or Kilgore would slide in at RG.

There were only 8 OLs on the 53-man last year and we only dressed 7 on game days. Why do you think that number will increase?

They expect him to be ready for training camp.
