Tony Parrish shouldn't be on that list. He was a very solid safety for us before he broke his fibula in a game against Chicago.

lol, did you just start watching 49ers football like 4 years ago Niners99? and wtf! Smiley, Beasely, Parish, Carter, Franklin, Nedney, A. Bryant, Heitmann. Douglas - all these guys were above average players when they played for us. i guess you missed out on the pre-2008 seasons.

He said he was making a best of the dark era list. These are some of the only half way decent players from then.
why all the hate on Cody Pickett??? Shaun Hill and JTO were just as atrocious

Back to back 2-14 seasons 1978-1979. Joe Thomas traded 4 draft picks 1st,2nd,3rd,4th over two years for a 30+ year old broken down O.J. Simpson. I think even my girlfriend who rarely watches football knows 99% of running backs are shot at 30, why didn't Joe Thomas a highly paid GM not have the football sense of your average woman who isn't a football fan. Most zoners weren't even born when Joe Thomas terrorized our beloved 49ers. I was in my late teens, glad I was a big kid, or I would have probably gotten beaten up for wearing a 49er hat to school.

At least Shaun Hill won games for us, we almost made the playoffs that year. Picket, Dorsey, Rattay, I'm not sure if they even have 8 career wins combined for us.

It was fun going against Chicago with Rachal at guard. It made me laugh every time he was owned and looked lost.

The first few years Derrick Smith was here he played good ball.

Yeah Dorsey was just brutal. Cody Pickett tried hard, but he had no business making an NFL team, let alone activated and starting a game. It is ok to laugh and talk about it now, but every Sunday it just made me want to cry watching the team I loved sink so low.
    inhayi Uwayzuke

    Ulbrich

    Derrick Smith
    Takeo Spikes overrated A F

    Jason Hill

    Ken Dorsey

Bright spots that fought in a tanking team:

Frank Gore *cried his first season which was a losing one and was laughed at because of it. ''Expect more losing seasons, Franky.Get used to it.'' they told him.
Andre Carter VERY fast. Just wasn't ''big '' for a DE more Patrick Willis body type. IMO Carter would've done well if he had started out a MLB.
Julian Peterson. Can't blame him for getting paid doe.
Bloyd would go RVD suicidal for a catch minus that duck one.
Shaun Hill actually bled for a first down. Just wasn't elite
Jeremy Newberry I met him at a party in Byron. Really cool guy but got ribbed alot as his buddies were all raider fans. His knees are all torn up and for what?

    Newberry > Goodwin IMO

Mike Nolan Great Draft Consultant. One of the best. Great Defensive coach.. Just not a Head Coach captain type.

Singletary - AMAZING motivator. Credibility. Just not an X's and O's coach.

Nasty Nate Clements. - IMO a great CB. He got flamed for Intercepting a pass, trying to run it back but fumbled it. tought break. The niners first play first play of the season was a Nate Clements pick six.

He tried hard, he was limited because he only had one good eye. The guy I hated was Jeff Ulbrich. I don't know how many times he would be hit and dragged by a RB for 10 yards trying to make a tackle.

Some of you are using players I can't even remember, I think to qualify a person needed to have started a minimum of 3 games. Still can't believe no one other than me mentioned OT Anthony Clement, I looked him up, he did have 6 starts in 2005. He stood out to me as I had NFL package till last year and watched all the games in our recent 8 years of not making the play-offs streak. I kept swearing I would quit watching games, but I still watched them all from start to finish hoping to see some sign of improvement. Almost every time there was a sack or QB hit or hurry it was the guy Clement was supposed to block, I almost think he was taking out life insurance policies on our quarterbacks. If he wasn't completely whiffing on blocks he was getting pushed backwards into the pocket. Dude weighed 320 pounds but got pushed around like a 98 pound weakling. He was Jennings back-up. I would not put Jennings on the list as he played pretty well when he was in there, but he was hurt most of the time.
