I really don't think this is the week to obsess over the lack of a rushing attack. We didn't run the ball when we got our @**** handed to us by Minnesota or the Giants either.
When you're down 14 in the 1st you pass the ball.

Running game has not been the same since Kaep has taken over. Alot of posters have talked about it here and there. It has to do with Scheme/game plan with Kaep vs Scheme/game plan with AS. I also beleive it has to do with AS being able to read defenses better and get the offense at the LOS into the most efficient play.
Like i said, Kaep may end up being really good, But harbaugh has done neither him, nor this team any good by prematurely starting him. It is pretty clear now that it as premature, and this team was built to run more efficiently with smith under center.

While that may be true when you're down 14 in the 1st the run game is not going to be there. See Min, see NYG.
This game wasn't about the decision to switch to Kap. It was just the wrong time to go to Seattle. They're undefeated at home with victories over NE and GB when their offense wasn't half as productive as it is now.
They didn't wear us down. They just kicked our ***.

we havent run as well in 2nd half of season as we did in first half--that is something to obsess over given that the team was built for a power running game

i agree and having been saying this for some time...the niners defeated seattle earlier by getting gore free on several trap runs which all yielded big yardage---only 1 time tonite did they run it successfully

A. Frank Gore has been wearing down towards the end of the season for the past couple of seasons
B. Kendall Hunter's injury hurt this team more than people might accept. He was a valuable guy to give Gore a breather and still be damn productive, LaMichael James hasn't come close to equaling the production that was lost as a result of that injury.

Im not talking about being down 14. Im talking about the opening drive of the game. Through the first three series, Gore had 1 carry, unless i miscounted.
Whats the best counter to an explosive offense? a time of possecion, running offense that keeps the explosive offense on the sideline.
Im not blaming Kaep, i actually really like the kid. I am blaming the coaching decision to go with Kaep. It was simply the wrong decision. I am a fan of Kaep and Harbaugh, but it was premature to bench AS, and harbaugh did neither this team, nor Kaep any favors with that decision.

Yet this season gore hasnt wore down at all. His YPC has been really good in the second half of the season, with the exception of the loss in STL.
He had a 4.6 yard per carry average tonight. He only got 6 carries. The problem isaint his production its the gameplan for the carries that he does get. He has become an after thought under Kaep, where as he was the bell cow under AS.

In two games of this season, the analysts pointed out a few things. In a game with Smith as QB, the analyst pointed out that Smith made adjustments to send Gore into a good running lane. He specifically said that the decision would reduce wear-and-tear on Gore. In another with Kaepernick as starter, the run didn't end up successfully because the analyst pointed out Kaepernick did not account for the rush.

Ya think?
You mean to tell me switching from an offense that got us to the NFC championship last season, and was 6-2 to start the season was a bad idea?
All joking aside, I like Kaep, but like i said, Harbaugh did neither him, not this team any favors ith this decision.
