Yep, about to hate. What has Nick Foles done that Kaepernick hasn't? Is he a proven commodity?
Seems more pro ready. Less gimmicky

Exactly, seems... Do you think Harbaugh would really show all his cards or do you think maybe, just maybe he has and ace up his sleeve?

Maybe that's possible? Just an armchair QB here. But I know Foles is a lot closer to taking over as starter in Philly, than CK is in San Fran.

No, but I can read. And what I read says Vick is close to costing him his job.
Regardless, I don't see Smith giving up the starting role any time soon.

Guy, what is the point of your posts? One line posts that add no value. Post something meaningful or stop. There was nothing wrong with what he posted, it didnt warrant your smart ass response.

Obviously this team is built off of having a great defense, a great running game, and a quarterback that doesn't turn the ball over. With that being said, that's not really a good thing for Alex because Harbaugh can go out and find himself a quarterback that doesn't turn the ball over OR he may think that's what he already has in Kaepernick. We all know from the pursuit of Peyton Manning, Harbaugh knows that finding a good/great quarterback will put this team over the top, which doesn't tend to give Alex any leverage.
To me, last offseason if we had lost Alex, I don't think the organization would be scrambling around in dyer need of a quarterback. It seemed to me as if the organization was ready to move on with Kaepernick, which is why I believe Alex may lose his job next year or the year after. This is all my personal opinion, but that's how it looked to me last offseason. Harbaugh knows that the way this team is built that they could have moved on with Kaepernick and still managed to win a bunch of games. If Alex didn't accept the offer he was given, I doubt the organization would give him a penny more than what they had offered.
Totally agree with both comments. I think this team is built such that a mediocre QB will still give us a bunch of wins. I think that if we dont win the superbowl this year or next, the coaching staff will re-assess each position (including the QB position). I point to the QB position because in all other phases we are very SOLID (defense, offensive line, WR, RB). The thing is, one day our defense may get old, our defense won't hold up forever to support Alex for another 7 years! We need to groom a QB of the future!

Baalke is a cold bloody GM aided by Parathe's (sp?) capalogy expertise. Look at how they have been handling the vets like Alex and Dashon so far. They have a value and stick pretty much to it. They have an idea of the players what they are going to do when the draft and FA comes around. Now they are given more leverage to the point that the players are more likely to resign with the niners for less now that they are winning-should I sign for more money but land on a s**tty team, or take less but at least enjoy the winning.
Isn't Baalke from the Belichick tree or was it the Parcells? The way you just described Baalke reminds me of how the Patriots operate.

Belichick came from Parcells... Baalke just worked on scouting departments for the Jets and Skins... then for us.. really worked his way up the ladder for us.

I really didn't think he was qualified for the job when they promoted him!

Was a pretty fair assessment on your part. ( neither did I )..
Outsiders like us can only speculate from what we knew of him at the time.

Damn good question. I really can't disagree with either. It's clear - to me at least - that Keap. is being groomed for a seamless transition from #2 to #1. But it is also clear -again, to me at least - that JH & Co. isn't gonna just hand the keys to Keap. without out playing one Alex Smith first. And Alex is making an awfully strong bid for a long-term deal. I'd say that JH & Co. are in a wait-&-see mode. Definitely both are gonna be kept and neither won't just be let go or given away for nothing.
