quarterback controversy

I gave Alex Smith 7 years of bad play before I wrote him off. Quit grasping at straws.

Locked then unlocked?

Give the young Ghedi a shot to see what he can do.

Seriously? We SHOULD HAVE went to the SUPERBOWL last year with Smith. Give him a shot? At what our potential SUPERBOWL season?

I just don't understand....

add up the amount of games he has started, divide that number by 16, and tell me how many years that equals

And who did Alex have to throw to all those years? Who were the starting WRs in the NFCC? There is alot more to a passing game then just a QB.

Vernon Davis, Frank Gore, Delanie Walker, Michael Crabtree,

Thats plenty of weapons for a QB

Lets see.

Walker was dropping passes left and right when he returned from injury. Davis and crabtree were blanketed because Swain was playing opposite of crabtree. So that leaves you with Gore.

So again the offense struggled all around not just one position.

I'm not man. You said it. I don't want to give anyone seven years again. That sucked. You are contradicting yourself.

That's what I was thinking.

The jury is out in full blown proportions and the excuses for the bad QB play is highly entertaining (only found in Niner Talk), homerism at it's finest.

keep it up folks!

Somebody start a I hate Goodwin thread, that will bring him out of the shadows
The reason why I am ready to move on from Alex is that, frankly, he doesn't bring enough to the table. Can you genuinely sit here and say that Alex Smith has ever struck fear in a NFL defense in his life.

Alex's Pros:

Smart presnap

Careful with the ball

Underutilized athleticism

Alex's Cons:

Accuracy

Intermediate/Deep ball

Pocket presence

Ability to improvise

Anticipation

Alex is middle of the pack in terms of physical tools and he has little to no ability to improvise or make adjustments on the fly. Why stick with someone, who is largely dependent on his running game and defense to win games, when NFL history has proven that unproven rookies can do the very same thing.

That's what I was thinking.

Trying to get into the spirit of enjoying all of this ninny-boo-boo epidemic.... ... mostly, it just seems so sad and futile.

5-2 people.. omg.. get a grip and be happy like some of us.
