Scotty & Nolan had as many hits as misses.

Kentwan & Chilo at #1 & #2 respectively? That's not acceptable.

They could pick players high in the first round well enough.
The problem is they couldn't develop young players if their lives depended on it.

Yeap. Nolan was infamous for keeping rookies on the bench and starting old vets in their place unless they were first round picks.

It only took eight seasons of awful. So many Sundays I drank until I was numb.

These two Sundays in 2006 were especially terrible.

I'm not even gonna go back to 2005. That is just a drunken blur of a year.

Ah s**t, I'm already looking at it, so here ya go. You can watch Frank run a 72-yard TD at least.

I can't exclude 2007 and busted-shoulder Alex, can I? Right after Mike Nolan's dad passed away. So awful.

So much pain. So much alcohol.

But now we've got these guys...

...and many others, and life is so much better.

So give thanks for these good times, cause it was pretty damn dark around here for 8 years.

Go Niners.

(I re-sized these photos, but apparently that doesn't do anything at all? )

EDIT: Derek Smith removed because he had more supporters than naysayers.
Bump?
This thread takes me back. When nolan dad died and they had to play the seahawks on mnf, the team was sooooo unprepared and we got f**king killed and embarrassed on national tv. The team should've played with fire and passion to honor nolan's dad death. However, I was sooooo frustrated that I shouted out loud, "This is how you prepare your football, nolan? This is how you mourn your father? Well, I am glad that he's dead because you're a failure as a football coach" Of course, that was sooooo uncalled for. I was just frustrated that our team had talent, but constantly not prepared to play football games.

me=epic failure as a human being circa 2007

I think you are the reason I got banned, it happened on that day when someone made fun of his dad dieing. I went insane and then served time on the island of lost souls and misfit trolls .. by the way under those two head coaches in nolan and the next guy,,, we NEVER were prepared to play a road game

Roman was an upgrade for us in 2006. That's why he isn't on the list.

the start of the "he doesn't bend his knee!!!!!"

thanks jaws.
For 8 years all I ever wanted was my 49ers to still be in the game after the 1st half /1st quarter. Just wanted my team of 30+ years to just give me some entertaining football win or lose.To just give me some hope for the future. After last year Im back to my old self and now all I want are LOMBARDI'S
Nolan set the foundation, you all can't deny that.

Also forgot to mention Glass Jaw. (Jonas Jennings)

Tell me about. I was right there with you. I haven't missed a home game in 7 years and I was at one point excited I had scored seats to that Seattle game..40 yd line, front row right behind the Niners bench. Now it's a anger filled, horrible memory.
to a sober season... lol
