The Official Aldon Smith Thread

You know Aldon is a good player and Im glad we have him but in watching him it appears most of his sacks are coverage sacks. Its very rarely I see him just actually beat a player with a pass rushing move.

We're only rushing 4 guys... which means that if he does beat his man usually another player like a FB, HB or G can slide over and help pick him up.

If we bitzed 5-6 guys you'd see it more often IMO

Could be the case
Wish he had a sack yesterday

Me too, but i will sacrifice the sacks if he continues to progress into a well rounded LB, which he seems to be doing. He is really setting the edge well and is pretty stout against the run. Once he is comfortable with full time duty, i think he is going to flourish even more.

So did anyone notice at the end of the game when we moved Aldon over to the left side he got to the QB every single time?

We REALLY need to start moving him around more and creating mismatches with him. He is much more effective when used that way.

Looked Like Aldon was B**chslapping Giocomini all over the place at the end of that seahawks game. Even The announcers were saying "this guy has no chance against smith 1 on 1 right now." Thats why they had to chopblock because dude was getting beat so bad the guard had to come help. And I liked how he Aldon stayed diciplined on his RB coverage off Wilsons playaction, Aldons becoming more than just a pass rusher, i like it

Agree. I really do like how Aldon is progressing as an all-around linebacker as the season goes. Hopefully we can see more of the guys getting moved around on the line to try and create more confusion and pressure

Yep if he was 1 on 1 every time he would have a lot more sacks. Still Sus coverage sacks or not I am happy we have someone who can finish plays. Remember in the past how we had guys who could get pressure but never really finished and got sacks. Even last year I thought the same thing... sure some a chunk of them are coverage sacks but just glad we got someone who can finish. He's been much better in run defense as well. He's made some beautiful tackles in the open with those long arms.

True he's becoming a good all around LB, but I think he'd be much more effective for team as a pure passrushers. In retrospect, the Haralson/Smith rotation was genius.

We miss Parys Haralson more than people realize. He was a very good 1st and 2nd down player and it allowed us to keep Aldon fresh and let him just monster on 3rd and passing downs.
this might sound racist, but it is shocking how well spoken he is for all the trouble he has gotten in as of late

If you think it is racist, and you question it, you should not say it.

What does getting in trouble have to do with his race?
My impression is that he is not a bad dude just young.
