There are just so many options at RB for us. Gore, Hunter, James, Jacobs, Cartwright.
I see us giving carries to all 5 of those guys in any given game.
Maybe however this might be a clever misdirection by Harbaugh. He might want the rest of the league to think they are a run first team and then when the regular season comes around they could use a totally different game plan. I wouldn't put it past Harbaugh to have something like that up his sleeve.
I see it a little different. Knowing Harbaugh he would want to improve in
all area of the team. That would include the running game too. Even though receivers were mostly reported and talked about. I see the game last night as a rehearsal for the running game initially. Has nothing to do with what the team may be doing more of during the season. Coaches just want to see certain area of the team during the preseason game.

I always saw preseason as a way to give the 2nd stringers and rookies a chance to play since they will probably be on the bench the whole season.
Interesting that Randy Moss was only in the game for 1 play that I saw, I was really hoping to see what he is going to bring.

Jacobs won't be getting many first down carries, and only 3rd and shorts.
James is quick! That kid gets a lane and he'll be gone.
Hunter looks like he's more patient but will still hit the hole fast.
And gore didn't even play!! This O-line is going to help gore have a great year.

Jacobs really impressed me. He was quick, nimble, hard hitting, and best of all, he didnt dance around the backfield like a ballerina. That was what i was most worried about with him

Jacobs looked good last night. Thought it was interesting that every one of his carries went for a first down, including three third and shorts....something he had problems with last season.

I did see him dance just a little bit(small hesitation)though. He did look good and precise on that breakaway run, but on the early short yardage first downs he danced alittle bit. Yes he has nimble feet, but i would rather have him run downhill like a bowling ball like back in the day on those short yardage situations more often.

Although I was happy with Jacobs, frankly, the way the O-Line was blocking last night any one of our backs would have gotten those 1st downs. The line was creating a crease with depth -- the RBs didn't have to bowling ball anyone until they had already gone 2-3 yards. When the O-line can do that, and now you can line up any RB in 3rd and short -- even a small back that could get outside -- now the defense really has a dilemma on its hands -- it can't just play 3rd and short with heavy personnel.
Boone and Leanard Davis are a big upgrade at RG.
The coaching staff has clearly gotten into Jacob's head. After the game he made that comment about his long run that "The team doesn't need me bouncing it outside..." GREAT, he gets it, the staff wants him to run over people to establish the downhill run when he is in the game. But heck, when they are afraid of the downhill run and the defender shades inside and hesitates like the safety did - bounce it outside Brandon! We won't complain about that :) NICE JOB.

I see a HUGE year for Jacobs this year.
Gore will start, and he's gonna have a big year too, partly because he knows that if he doesn't perform, there's a replacement waiting!

Frank is the "TANK", and Jacobs is the "APC".

High hopes for how Jacobs does this season. Defenses want no part of him going at him head on.

Re-watching the game-- Jacobs is huge. He look like another lineman in the backfield. How does he not get 2-3 yards a carry...
