You gotta understand something-the QB position is given at times too much credit and to little credit at times. However, on every offensive snap the QB touches the ball more than anyone else other than the center. He contols the game. He makes the checks and while the center makes the line calls, he also makes adjustments. He makes the reads, he is the one responsible for finding the open man, for getting the ball out of his hands and into the playmakers hands to move the chain. That is why he gets the money and the glory more than the other positions. He is the leader, the general.
Peoples argument that he is blamed for everything when he shouldn't can be said of every QB. Line needs better play, team needs better wr. It is the general view of people. Only on the zone is there people who give him more leeway than they normally would others. You may think he is not at fault, but if it were totally untrue the front office would have given him better. That speak volumes. Right now he is a servicable QB that still has to show and dispell that myth/fact.

Our 3rd donw numbrs through the years have been terrible due to the brilliant Jimmy Raye and Jim Hosler offences.
All the managable 3rd and 8, 3rd and 12, 3rd and forever. with no one open.
Last year the playcalling on 3rd downs was ultra conservative.
Allthough agreed Alex needs to work on the 3rd down conversions.

He also has a hard-on for Big Dix(on). And his predictions/explanations are oversimplified and illogical. Plus half the time he just writes down verbatim transcripts of interviews with no analysis. That's not journalism.
Probably half of the posters on this site could do a better job at sports journalism than him. And I don't exactly think highly of the majority of posters on this site.
At least he isn't a reactionary like his father is. That's the highest compliment I can give him. I'm in the habit of avoiding all articles written by the press democrat now.

I think Grant needs to get thicker skin...I've noticed on his blogs when posters disagree with what he says, he seems to take it personally and responds to each one. WRT 3rd down woes, it does fall on Alex, to a degree. Play-calling is part of it, receivers failing to separate, OL not opening holes so RB's can pick up the 1st down, or RB's not finding a way to get it done. It's a lot of things...guys like Moss and Manningham will help that, as will Jacobs in the running game. Kilgore can help strengthen the OL...if not him, then someone not named Rachal or Snyder. It's a collective effort, no doubt. Adding Fleener to the offense would also help a lot.

You obviously didn't read. He said it could be the playcalling, the line or the receivers as well.
