They give lots of respect to Gore tho.

Jacobs isn't necessarily afraid of putting the shoulder down to punish defenders. He trucks defenders like no other.

The problem is that he's 6'4" and not all defenders want to go shoulder pad to shoulder pad so the problem is getting low enough or hurdling fast enough in a split second when he's not sure if the defender wants to go head up or dives for an ankle tackle.

I think we specifically use him for goal line and some PA passes in the flat.

+1. i hate the arizonal cardinals fans more than any fanbase.. they have zero superbowls.. 2 divsiion wins... and they think they are kings or something. they try to compare themselves to us... 5 superbowls, 18 division wins.. to there 2 divsion wins.. -_-

You know, I used to like AZ. Always rooted for them as the unloved dog from the old NFC East.

Didn't know there was real beef between AZ & SF when they joined the west initially up to the '08 superbowl run. I naturally rooted for the 49ers over the Cards, but wanted the Cards to win the SB. There was a likeability to Fitzgerald that influenced this.

I should have hated them for their "Rams" QB.

Arizona fans are just desperate at this point. When did Jacobs say anything about he "should" get the goal line carries over Gore? I'm not a huge fan of the guy, so I'm not sticking up for him or anything, but everything I've seen from him has been "I just want to help out wherever I'm needed". People want Niner drama because they want to see us fail.

When Brandon Jacobs left the New York Giants for a backup role with the San Francisco 49ers, the timing made perfect sense.

Jacobs had done all he could do in New York, and frankly, he'd already given Tom Coughlin the best football in his body. Jacobs' running style changed in recent years, as he went from bull-in-a-china-closet menace to sideways-lumbering churner. The Giants struggled in short-yardage situations, with Jacobs driving his coach (and fan base) batty.

But Jacobs is now telling us the evolution of his game wasn't entirely of his doing. Another way put it? It was the offensive line's fault.

"No one's perfect -- somebody's gonna get a step on you at some point somewhere and you're not gonna be perfect," Jacobs told KNBR-AM in San Francisco (via SportsRadioInterviews.com). "Because we had issues. When I was with the Giants, we had issues down the line. Of course, I took the blame for those (because I was) holding the ball. But ultimately, at the end of the day it is my fault because I do have the ball and that's what people see. But there's a lot more than that going on."

We can't imagine this pass-the-buckfest will go over too well with members of the Giants' O-line. As for the 49ers, they better hope Jacobs' theory is right or they just got swindled.

Real standup guy, and Im not talking about his running style. Having seen pretty much every snap of Brandon's NFL career ( live 10 min from the Meadowlands ), I can tell you that Im not thrilled with the pickup. Based on his lack of committed dollars though, and our short yardage stats being one of the worst in the entire NFL, I can see why the 9ers are rolling the dice. There are two Brandon Jacobs, the motivated one out to prove a point by punishing opponents...and the "tip-toe burglar" who complains about not getting enough touches and dances at the line of scrimmage. News Flash..our Oline didnt really BLOW people off the line last year either. Hopefully a 1 year deal and the AMAZING team first players we have will keep him properly motivated all season long. In the end, can't be worse than Dixon..right?

Am I the only one that thinks Brandon Jacobs might not have been that great of an addition. Maybe that is why they kept Dixon too. I just don't know how motivated he is.
