This is my biggest problem with this poster. He makes comments that he represents as facts, yet they are simply nothing more than biased speculation used to make Alex seem better than he is. This is a regular tactic this poster does.

Kap in 2012

and demarcus dobbs should take over for justin smith

So you are comparing Justin to Alex ?

yes, they both played well enough this year to keep their jobs...im also comparing kaeprernick to dobbs, both are vastly inexperienced

I'm at work and can't embed a video...but yeah fast forward to around 1:20

as far as the other problems you listed, I doubt Baalke and Harbs would have traded up in the draft to get him...if those were big issues of his.

im sure he would say "Yeah I really suck at reading defenses." the reads he made running the pitol were i believe mostly run reads i.e. do i hand off the ball or run it...he was making nfl passing game reads much, if it all, in reno

did you watch the video? They didn't ask him specifically that kind of question. They asked him, besides adjusting to a pro style offense and being under center...what qualities to do you think you bring to an offense....and he volunteerly brought up reading a defense and putting the offense in the best position pre-snap.

highly agree with tim here screw kaep lets attempt to pick up a legit deep threat
And I've posted this before...but here is Baalke talking about Colin, and how he has almost everything he wants in a QB. The more you think about, they really believe in him...and I think that it was very important for them to bring back Alex for at least one or 2 years, just so Colin didn't have to be thrown out there on a shorted offseason.

Both QBs have been in this system for the same time. If Kaep displays hes very smart and shows high understanding in TC, i think Alexs leash will be short.

haha yeah i hope he's ready to make some sick throws

I find it amusing that when Harbaugh says positives about smith, "I trust in harbaugh."

And when Harbaugh says they'll be open competition at QB, "its just coaches talk,"

Well he's pretty much blowing smoke when he says both of those things.

Top 10 QB this year? No chance. He was in the top 10 in ONE measurable statistic.....QB rating (which many feel isnt the best indication of production). So he is in the top 10 in one of many statistics. How does that make him top 10 in the league? Just curious if you can explain this one.

He was #2 in TD-INT ratio, #1 in INT-ATT ratio. He outplayed Brees and Eli head-to-head in the playoffs despite a woeful receiving core. Yeah, Eli had 120 more yards but on 32 more attempts. His YPA was 2,1 lower and he threw two balls so poorly that our guys collided over who should intercept them.

Name 10 QBs that were better this year

It is going to be an open battle. Smith is going to destroy Kaep in any competition right now. Maybe... maybe next (2013) season if Smith doesn't get much better, and Kaep does really well then Kaep will take over.

The likelihood is very small.

Suswell you are really disappointing. Like a dog back to its vomit as the saying goes... almost had some people believing that you were a fair-minded intelligent fan of football and the 49ers.

Well its just he is a project QB. I don't mean he cant do it at all, but I do see talent in him, just I dont feel he would be ready next year. He is not a Cam Newton. I think in time he could probably be good. Im not writing him off, but he has work to do. If he does it this off season, shoot I would be real proud.

Right now Alex has the experience and edge on him. He is competing against 2 second year QB's. I just think it would be given to him.

makes sense.. (sounds apologetic tho).. LOL

As for Cam.. well dat guy is only decent... he will never be an elite quarterback.. (srry just sayin.. lmao) .. Alex was my elite quarterback before Arron Rodgers out did him and got to the super bowl... and won it...

but I'll stop here.. cause a whole can of worms can spill out over this one..

Please do. You just called Cam Newton decent. That is crazy. Dude has one WR in Steve Smith and he is getting old and is injury prone. Newton does not have the best line in the league either. There defense was not good but not great. Alot of the excuses that were for Smith, Cam just came in and balled out. I guess you think Tebow is great then. LOL

We will see what Keap can do, but I don't think its a fair competition if Smith is going against second year QB's.

but coaching is the biggest issue and this year proved it

he did better than previous years and he had no offseason and still had arguably top 10 year in nfl with no real WR

and as i recall montana said that coaching was the biggest issue as well he said rayes offense sucked as he had no optioons on where to throw the ball and said

try changing your job 6 times in 6 years and see how well you do
exact words
is montana making alexcuses?

Everybody should be thanking our Defense for our season for the most part. Poor redzone and 3rd conversions is what we got with game manager Smith. Harbaugh did not all of a sudden make him a star QB. He played him against his limitations. He made him just manage the game, don't worry about the big play type deal. We could have had got the same results with a QB like Kyle Orton. Our defense was really that good this year because with all the 3 and outs and redzone sputter they kept us in every game.

I hope he is right and he can play in the NFL at a high level. We have been missing a big time QB for a LONG LONG LONG time. Not certain if our whole D will be back, I strongly doubt it. That game managing QB crap wont work next season with Smith.

He hit the nail on the coffin with the whole thing about everything in the NFL is never almost right. Sounds like he took a shot at Alex Smith. LOL

highly agree with tim here screw kaep lets attempt to pick up a legit deep threat

I think we should trust harbaalke's ability to find diamonds in the rough. Are we forgetting what the rookie class did this year?? We may be fortunate and see Jeffrey fall to us at 30. Definitely shouldn't consider trading Kap. Harbaugh isn't here to groom QB's for other teams to have success with...he's here to win Super Bowls...Kap is part of that plan, IMO.

Trade Tolzien for Josh Johnson? I mean there is no QB competition if it stands with the QB we have. 49ers are not going to get a FA Vet. They are going to re-sign Smith unfortunately and go with the other 2 QB's we already have. Maybe draft one late? I doub it. Maybe Kaep can surprise, but I think he probably needs to sit 2 full years. It would be nice to get some real insurance if he didnt pan out though.

I guess I'm banking on Kaepernick panning out. In comparison to Alex...He has bigger arm, better scrambling ability, showed the clutch gene in college, he'll be 25 next year. He's not 22. Harbaugh has shown the magic touch with quarterbacks...he plucked Luck from west Houston(Katy) and helped turned him to the greatest prospect in years. He saw something in Kaepernick and I think he'll do the same.

Kellen Moore may not be a bad mid late round pickup..extremely accurate, intelligent. I know he's losing stock and has a frail frame, correct me if I'm wrong.
