Imagine how good they would be if we had Eli as our qb! Face it guys, Alex is an avg to below avg nfl qb and those don't win Super Bowls. we may need a wr but the reality is NY had ONE wr threat tonight, and he didnt have any catches in the 2nd half. Nicks had a whooping 5 catches and Manningham had 1. Manning made multiple plays tonight. maybe its the play calling, maybe the coaches dont trust alex but whatever the case its not just he wrs.
Covering all three NYG WR is the problem. Nicks/Cruz/Manningham is simply too many weapons to keep down all game. SF has Davis and..... *crickets chirping*. And Smith was still able to hit Davis for two TDs. Crabtree may work better with some complimentary WRs, but WE NEED THOSE COMPLIMENTARY WRs!
Smith had a poor game, but he had a very good season and a great game last week. He needs more weapons, an offseason with Harbaugh, and he'll be just fine.
Besides... where's the available QB that's better than Smith this offseason when you're drafting 30th? (and Peyton is coming off three neck surgeries and is past his prime - no thank you.)
Smith is the best FA QB on the market.
