LOL...a year ago we'd all be creaming our pants if the football gods told us we'd be 9-2 at this point and now that we're there...Alex still is teh suxors and we are still "not for real."

GB, NO and b*tch a55 Dallas are better than us. Dallas is really good right now. Although, in the playoffs we can still make a run depending on the weather situation, etc. I just think those teams can shred our secondary and it'll be difficult to keep up in a high scoring type of game.
NO and Dallas have both proven they can lose to a garbage team
Any team can lose any Sunday. Picking out an anomaly doesn't prove much.

Exactly... We cannot complain even if we get ousted in the first round. This turnaround is beyond belief.

The abuse at the line of scrimmage was unbelievable. We are not ready for the big time IMO based on this team. We are physically overmatched vs. top tier teams.
It looked very, very bad. But you should also take this from the loss. In spite of our offense doing practically nothing, and the defense not getting any pressure on them, the Ravens could ONLY muster 16 points. Ray Rice is a very capable back, and even though he had his opportunities, they still couldn't run the ball. Joe Flacco had all day to throw and he barely got more yards than Alex Smith.
Also, we won't see a defense as good as the Ravens again unless we make it to the Super Bowl and face the Ravens. New Orleans can light it up, but their D isn't exactly intimidating. Same thing with Green Bay and Dallas. Have to keep it all in perspective.

#6 may be to high. We will lose to the Steelers and probably lose at Seattle. Saints could take the #2 seed. Entering the playoffs we could be the worst NFC playoff team. We will definately be the worst offense. Playoffs were the goal at the beginning of the year. I think we should be happy just to get there, because we cant beat GB, NO, or DAL.

Really, who expected the 49er's to be this good at the beginning of the season? NOBODY!
This is a massive improvement over the few years they've been bumbling around.
Unfortunately there are still a few weak links around (in the offensive line) and inspite of what some say, I'm still NOT convinced that Alex Smith can pull through when the running game fails. We'll sure find out in the playoffs when the opponents will MOST certainly focus on stopping the running game.
Then, it will be up to Alex Smith to beat them. The game plan for the opponents is simple, Stop the running game and see if Alex can beat them.
But no matter what happens in the playoffs, 49er's fans should be ECSTATIC for what a FIRST year WITH NO NFL COACHING EXPERIENCE has accomplished.
If he doesn't make coach of the year, then I would assume that the balloting was fixed!

When the Rams beat the Saints, or I think Brady lost to a horrible team, and a few others. I dont think there is any such thing as not playing any teams.
By the mid point, most said we would be, what, 3-3 or 4-5. and even for the season.... no better than 9-7 if that good.
We beat the Lions, Giants, Eagles, Bucs (These are all teams, that before we played them, they were talked about to really make noise, or a run for their respective divisions). Whether by 1 pt or 20, we beat them all.
So if you follow the mantra of "Any Given Sunday" (as I do), then yes not only have we been 9-2, but we beat teams that some already counted on us to lose. And we beat plenty of good teams.
Like I said in regards to the Ravens. a lot of people are like, "uh oh, we've been exposed". But i mean seriously. If we played the Packers, and they beat us, most would say they are the better team. Well with the Ravens its no different. WE aspire to have the lights out defense that the Ravens have, and had it not been for a few obstacles, we could of won. But thats the way it goes. The Ravens ARE the best defensive team we've faced all season, and we loss.
I really doubt that any other team in the league has the same type of personnel that they have. So as i would expect teams to now bring the pressure 24-7. No one has the skill players to do the things the Ravens did. IMHO. Best DT, Suh, we won, Best DB Nnamdi, We won, Great QB, Vick, and Manning, WE won. So i mean each week, sure pick out a few star players, but so far we have beaten the so called teams that have those elite players.

For all the grief that Bill Walsh took for that regular season, can you imagine if we relived that in today's internet age?

He probably would have resigned after the Raider loss.
