I agree, Fangio needs to step it up/mix it up/something. You can;t throw the same s**t out there 11 games in a rpowe in the NFL and not expect a good team to take advantage of you. No excuse for Aldon Smith not being on the field. This game exposed Vic Fangio imo. The players on our D are better than the DC.
The offense was disappointing to say the least. I don't blame Greg Roman, the Ravens were destroying our oline but receivers were open adn there were plays to be had. I love Alex and am on his bandwagon, but this game was bad. He had more to do with the sacks than the OL imo. Gotta get the ball out of your hands!!! #11 regressed tonight, or he just acted like any normal QB would while getting bombarded by a defense, but either way he didn't play as well s he's been hyped on this board (by myself and others).
I'm not too worried because we've exceeded expectations at this point and I personally think a loss like this has a chance to improve our team more than another win. That said, if our team was as good as I thought, and our QB was as good as I thought, we win this game.

Make no mistake about it, Fangio was thoroughly out-coached

Should have ran the ball more with Lewis out.

Should have gotten creative with the running packages instead of the same old Gore going up the middle, slipping, falling on his ass and losing 2 yards.
But yeah, the defensive gameplan was atrocious. Its almost like Fangio looked at Flacco and said "well, I did compare to Skelton to this guy and look how he did" so f**k it, I'll play the same defense. I didn't see anything even remotely creative and the first major blitz I noticed was after Baltimore had already scored to go up 13-6. You can't defend what was an atrocious gameplan.

What exactly did the 49ers o-line have to do with Flacco having all day to sit back in the pocket, take his time and make passes like he was f**king Tom Brady?

Yes let us blame the defense since the oline did a superb job tonight.

And then if he does blitz and Torrey Smith burns us for a 70 yard TD...everyone would be complaining for his having 1-on-1 coverage on a dude that runs a 4.2....the bottom line is we woulda lost even if we were playing the Jags or something tonight...you can't travel across the entire country and win a Thursday game, esp. when the other team was also home the weak prior....and even with all that, the penalties called on the Ginn TD/Brown pick and the lack of a penalty call when Alex Smith got sacked screwed us and we may have even won the game if they were called correctly...I hope we see them again...

There's a lot of blame to go around. The defense played well for the most part but the gameplan was s**tty. How do you give up 9 sacks to the other team and not get a single sack of your own on the other end?

Pretty much the common thread in a poor running game is Moran Norris. And yeah Chilo Sucks. Get better soon Miller! Please!

Yea the defense basically played passive and soft the entire game. Flacco was barely touched. The Ravens defense attacked and got 9 sacks. Niners played passive and got 0 sacks. Not a terrible game from the players standpoint, but it was a bad game from the coaching standpoint. What's the point of being a 3-4 and not utilizing the strengths of the 3-4 which is pressure from different areas.

This is exactly what I've been saying.
The players were extremely impressive with what they had, and that goal line stand was outstanding but the playcalling is useless. It was like playing the 3-4 to emphasize all the weaknesses of a 3-4 defense but not utilize any strengths. Not getting creative with blitzes and attacking a quarterback who, let's face it is not Aaron Rodgers is unforgivable.

whatever man. Holding a team down to 16 should be good enough. That's right at their league leading points allowed per game average.

Yes he was definitely thoroughly out coached. That's why the game was tied going to the 4th. Not to mention, barely 2 days of practice and traveling 3 time zones, which hadn't been done since 1975 had nothing to do with anything.

this post is a joke. this game was not on alex smith. the oline blew this game plane and smiple. if alex had converted for the touchdown to edwards at the end of the first half though the game might have been a different story, was glad he took the shot though. just underthrew the pass.

Would you've felt better if the score was 9-6 Ravens? The defense was clearly not the problem.
