Dump offs to Craig, Rathman and Watters use to work pretty effectively in the glory years.

If smith goes at this rate, he'll be around 4 picks on the year, so its not record-breaking

Alex Brady

I dunno 'bout that. Brady threw 4 picks in one game already this year! Alex is better than that. lol
That's flat incredible. Even if you hate him you got to admit.

Ladies and gents... The hater has chimed in with his wisdom.
I know Alex smith is really important to our team and everything, but do we really have to have separate threads about his passer rating, number of INTs, his performance every week, his ESPN QBR, and his accuracy?
Is Jamie Dukes in charge of ESPN's QBR?
a lot of INTS last year were from just really bad luck, all those tipped balls that became picks

Alex in past years has thrown INTs when we most needed him to be clutch. This year, he has avoided them by throwing high % dump-offs and check-downs that the defense lets happen in front of them. However, what is significant is that he didn't throw an INT in the 2nd half of the Eagles game, when he played lights out. THAT's what's important. The one pic he did throw was in a game we lost and that probably made a difference, because it was so close. We need him to not throw pics when we need him to be clutch. He passed a test last week that he couldn't pass in week 2. I'm hoping the positive trend continues.

Yes. He's my quarterback man. My quarterback. :*)
Not to be a downer, as I've always been a big Smith supporter..

but just as I related his number of total attempts to being the reason why his total yardage is pretty dismal in comparison to other passers in the NFL, the fact that he has less attempts than any other starter (all 4 games) is also probably going to help out to some extent in keeping his interceptions down.

I'd love to believe that if he were throwing 30-40 times a game that he'd still only have thrown one pick, but I prefer to remain reasonable.

INTs are often just as much or more the fault of the receivers.

One thing I have noticed is that the receivers appear to be running better routes, making crisper cuts and adjusting routes based on defense. All of that will help keep the INT numbers down.

Harbaugh doesn't coach the QB. He also coaches the guys on the other end that help the QB look good.

Nothing against Alex, just saying...
While I am smiling about the low INT count and hope that trend continues this season along with more passing touchdowns and more additions to the win column. He also seems to be a bit more accurate as well with better placement than in the past. IMHO

Every INT makes a difference in some way or another, there is no good time or place for one.
