Morgan has improved each year by 200 yards. What round was he drafted in? What was he required to live up to?
A whopping 200 more yards, I wouldn't call that alone very much improvement. I see Morgan being drafted late due to character issues and his inconsistency with catching the ball, both of which are easily changed within a reasonable time frame.(one or two seasons I would think) He had and still possesses the physical ability to be a decent WR in the league. He would have even more to prove if he comes back due to the fact of the injury, being around the system and in going into his 5th year, IMO. The guy is a great piece to have on any team and can solidify his spot on a roster if he kicks the errors.
200 yards improvement each year is pretty damn good.

No, it's not. But I believe Morgan is better and could be better than his numbers. His numbers:
2009 - 527yds
2010 - 698 yds
2011 - 220 yds
Saying '200 yards improvement each year' is a bit misleading also, cause he only had one 178yds improvement. Zone math -- got to love it

Morgan is a good WR. Most of the arguments you make for Smith could also apply to Morgan. Too bad Morgan can't throw to himself......
Anyway, if you look at how good Morgan looked this year with a real WR coach, you shouldn't even be focusing on the past numbers. Dude looked like a legit number 1 (not elite) before he got hurt.

You really think that will get it done?

It should be close. Often they negotiate off of recent comparable contracts. Last year the Packers James Jones got 3 years for $9.4 million and his stats through four seasons were just a bit better than Morgans.
