Time to hit the sheets. I got to get some rest so I can get ready for mini camp with my favorite guy Alex Smith. Wait til he see my routes!!

Good to see alex hasn't changed still staring down his reciever!

Man, I stopped supporting Alex a few years ago and have been very vocal about it, but some of you guys take it to a whole other level. It got old a year ago bro. He's going to be back. Those of us who think (or know) that he sucks need to just suck it up and move on.
wow media is on Alex Smiths nuts today. Whoever is running the 49ers media machine sure is working overtime to smooth over Alex's return., it is starting to feel forced.

Exactly! He is our best option at this point and by all accounts thats not gonna change. Some fans need to put the bust label aside, which he deserves, but now he has shown great maturity and leadership when he really should of gone to a different team and been a backup. He came back knowing there will be a shower of boo's on every incompletion, is that a good thing? Not really sure, but I respect it. The haters should take joy in knowing that we are no longer waiting on him to develop, he is now a place holder. If he develops, great! If not, we get to start all over with CK next year.

Imagine if most of those passes were actually catch-able, meaning not behind him or over his head and were actually on target in stride..........man he would be a probowler

Bad definition. Not mutually exclusive.

When the ball hits your hands....

Yes your correct QB and Wr are not mutually exclusive. The wr success is dependent on the qb having success and vice versa. That's what i was getting at.

I didnt clarify myself good enough, i guess. One good example, of the many, would be the time Alex threw the ball to Frank Gore when they played against the Saints. It was a simple pass to the flat and Alex was unable to throw it accurately. Yeah the "ball hit his hands" but was not catch-able and led to a interception.

Im sure you're now going to tell me that Frank Gore is not a good receiver out of the backfield and should have done a better job to an amazing catch.

reason why is probally because his route running isnt that good before you say its an excuse look at the facts:

alex to vernon were 40 for 60 which is 67%

alex to morgan were 34 for 51 also 67%

alex to walker were 15 of 22 also for 68%

alex to ziegler were 8 for 11 for 72%

alex to crabtree 38 for 67 for 58%

so every wr that PRACTICES WITH ALEX GETS A QB % OF OVER 66%

Is this new to you. Actually, that was one of the knocks on Crabtree when he came out. The gimmicky spread offense that he came out of didnt require this of him. I've heard numerous people mention, that he was able to break off his route to open spots on the field. He kinda of was free on the field to a certain degree. Hes only played a year and a half and you guys are ready to give up on him. Wait till there is actual practices, so that Harbaugh or wr coach can help him with this aspect of his game better. Harbaugh is not there at these functions and i dont expect Alex to be able to help him much, considering hes new to this playbook.....and we all now how hard its for Alex to grasp new playbooks....right?

This is all funny to me, that when Alex came out of his gimmicky college offense, we all gave him time to transition, including me. Some are giving him seven years to see what he can become, but Crabtree no, he only has one and a half seasons before his labeled a bust.

ok before you were talking about how inaccurate alex is and how its alexs fault that the passes to crabtree are behind him bounce of his hands etc..

my point was that it was probally due to bad route running because all of the other WRs he throw to are over 65% completiton precentage

LOL @ this.

Have you ever thought that Crabtree gets covered by the other team's top corner? Lets put Ziegler or Morgan as the number 1 and see how good their numbers look.

where did i say morgan should be our #1 WR or where did i say that morgan was better than crabtree and should be the #1 spot all i am saying is that crabtree has not put in any time or effort in to practice and get the route running right or get the timing right

you cant read a playbook to get that done right you have to go on the field and practice

look at the link i gave you before

first 3 games
alex to crabtree 6.6 rating

rest of season 95.4 rating

what does this prove?

after 3 games of getting chemistry with alex he was a decent #1 option

It's really baffling to me that other QB's can establish chemistry right away with practice squad players (Brees, Romo, Manning, frigging Sam Bradford)... yet Alex and Crabs need multiple years to get chemistry?

I mean if Crabs played a game or two and had no preseason then I can understand all this chemistry talk but for pete's sake he's played 20+ games with Alex....WTF?

i think brady maning romo WRs all come to practice and TC

LOL, how many passes do you really think Peyton threw to Blair White in TC? LOL.

When you have a good system and a good QB, you can lose key pieces but still not miss a beat. Pats, Chargers, Colts, etc.

I'm not saying chemistry doesn't matter, but Crabs and Alex have had more than enough time to establish chemistry...their lack of production has nothing to do with chemistry and more to do with poor play from both players.

Michael, Michael, Michael. For a guy who was "done" 2 pages ago, you just can't resist the retorts, can you? This is an endless argument. I feel like I'm back in philosophy class in one of those circular discussions which have no point or purpose and no resolution. You're either Crabtree himself, or in love with him. Ok, we get it. Some of us aren't so infatuated. You need to get that. He has this season to prove if he was worth that draft pick, or any draft pick, for that matter. Let's see how it plays out (if we have a season, that is).

yup

alex will be there gore VD morgan now iupati snyder staley juckovich (or whatever his name is again)

thats most of our offense all we need is crabtree and thats most of our starters right there
with so much emphasis on qb/wr play, one of the main facets for wco to work is the line understanding their assignments. really, REALLY need to have our starting rg & rt present while the offense is being installed.
I don't care what anyone says about Alex. This kid has shown so much in the face of such adversity, frustration and all out hate by our fan base and still he coordinates, coaches and leads his team through drills and practices...as a coach no less.

That kid rocks! Way to go Smitty and take the bull by the horns.

Major props to the kid becoming a man and takin' control of his team. If he made his choice to leave, we would be so f**ked up right now it wouldn't even be funny. Who was going to run the show? Carr? Instead, Alex has taken the initiative to communicate with his teammates especially his starters. Davis, Gore and even Crabtree will get to the workouts. His brain truly is amazing if in just two months he was able to absorb, understand and TEACH the playbook to others after a complete change in terminology from Digit to WCO.

Thank God for Alex Smith and his character and his desire to prove everyone wrong even me.

That is all.

nice. in a way i see a lot of rich gannon in him. not the greatest slinger, but definitely has the tools to being an on-field coach in a solid system. since it looks like we come out the gates this season (if the gates even open) with smith under center then here's to the guy owning the offense and getting us to postseason. ride or die niners!

Does this guy remind anybody else of Jordan? Or is it just me?

My word... not Jordan Taber! I'm sure he is here somewhere. Hahaha... maybe I'm a sadist, but I miss that little b*****d. I wonder if he became a Bills fan when TO was there.

Just put this in here, so maybe JayBee can actually see that it's just him that thinks that Crabs doesnt need to work out with the team and build chemistry with his QB.

Not to beat a dead horse.... But whats the deal with Crabs not showing up to these "practices." should the niner nation be worried about the pre Madonna status that was given to him before the draft?

10:07 MattB_49: I don't know if he's a "diva" or a "primadonna" (I guess Pre Madonna would be Janis Joplin?). I'd say he's more of a loner. He's obviously working out by himself, which is exactly what he did for months on end during his rookie contract dispute. That would be fine if he were, say, a tennis player. Unfortunately, football is the ultimate team sport and chemistry is a must. That was a missing element early last season as you all know too well ...

ust bolded the bottom to say at least 95 % of the fans say the same thing.

Got to agree. Even though the fan base has been disappointed in his play the last 6 years, he has been a model of classiness, and obviously is attempting to make things work for this team. I hope fans cheer for him. He obviously has not quit on the team and organization.

Classiness dont equal good QB play. I'd take a good QB who with questionable off field stuff like Big Ben any day over some choir boy who cant hit a open receiver in stride.
