theyres a reason why hes an ex scout locker really? and the things he said about alex were uneducated also it was reported that teams were intrested in alex come fa which is acually why he is exploring fa this offseason
I think I'd agree with this part. What's wrong with Alex Smith (from Alex Smith's POV) being offered a back-up role? If he wants to make it in this league, I think he wants to disappear as a back-up to an older veteran like Peyton Manning, and take over when that guy retires.
There was a former scout that a lot of people here thought was a moron. Is it this guy?
yes.........although I can't recall what that thread was about, but what I do remember it was full of .
it was this guy he said we should start nate davis earlier this season
lol we should have listened to him.....cuz then we'd have the #1 pick instead of the #7.
eh! I don't think we'd all be wanting a QB so badly had Nate Started last year. Alex Smith brings/brought nothing to the table. I really wanted to see Nate play.
IMO had Nate started last year he'd be a better option than Smith. Which all things point to Smith starting week one.

If it was him, then maybe he was right all along. As many different opportunities that A.Smith was given, he never firmly entrenched himself in his spot. Nate showed in his rookie year what Troy Smith showed us in his first couple of starts; that Alex never showed us ever: an attacking passing game.

You guys that think Davis should have started are just pathetic. Smith may not be a great QB, but he was definitely the best one on the roster last year.

I'll differ with you on the pathetic part but agree on the better QB part. Alex was better versed and had a better grasp of everything playbook wise. Alex was also the least aggressive of all the quarterbacks including Carr.

With all due respect to Lowell Cohen, he picks Razzano as his "authority." Maybe Razzano is the best, but lets look a little deeper. I found an NFL.com article dated July 6, 2010 and it mentioned that Razzano had been a Rams scout for ten years, and was fired in 2006. He has not been hired as a scout by any NFL team since. The gist of the article is that Razzano had not rated Alex high in 2005, while other Ram scouts had. A altercation ensued over that dispute and Razzano was fired a year later.
I am an avowed Alex advocate, so you are free to take my point with a grain of salt. Razzano is one of hundreds of current and former NFL scouts, each with varying and different opinions on various topics. I find it sloppy journalism on Cohen's part to write an article with only one source, one opinion. In his defense, Cohen did inform Razzano about Harbuagh's recent kind words, and Razzano's response was that coaches tend to be optimists and believe they have the ability to make players better.

Isn't this the guy that thought Nate Davis was the next Dan Marino? Of course that was before 31 teams passed on him on the waiver wire and Niners cut him.
“I love Locker,” Razzano said. “People are concerned about his accuracy. I’m not. He’s going to be good in the NFL when he’s surrounded by talent. At Washington he had no offensive line and only one receiver.
Couldn't you say the same thing about Alex Smith - no offensive line and only one receiver?
The guy sounds like a moron to me.

Singletary seemed to allow a lot of these defensive guys to slip under the radar and avoid any accountability for making very elementary mistakes regularly, and its good to see a new guy coming in here willing to tell the guys who kept effing up last season, that it won't be tolerated like last year. I also see a few guys not liking this new staff and Harbaugh's no nonsense style. But if they can't deal with it, I'm sure their release papers can be typed up and they can be gone free and clear to find another team to play for.

I applaud most of the posters here. They are approaching the article with skepticism and are noticing its flaws: No quotes, just apparent suppositions by Dickey.
Dickey might know more, but has not been authorized to quote his source.

In thinking about it, didn't an article mention he's already seen every snap the 49ers played last year? ... Not to mention that he's been in the Bay Area for the last couple years, so I'm sure he's had a very good chance to see what Alex Smith brings to the table--good or bad.
shoots down his credibility right there imo......
"he won't see the fumbling in the 4th quarter"...............c'mon gtfo
Razzano's cred, as opposed to yours? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
You armchair GMs crack me up...
