PFT is good for some news but they are nothing but hyped up bloggers paid by nbc. They are paid based on hits on their site and advertising incentives, only use it as a springboard to search for the real articles or videos they quote. I am withholding all judgment until May 1st. After that if we haven't had a significant change in the right directions I will be boycotting this team for awhile.

If they are giving Harbaugh some personnel control it makes sense to not have "too many cooks in the kitchen." Get two young football minds in there and see what they can do. IF they get Harbaugh I like it. If not... I'll have my doubts as to wtf Jed has been doing.

It's not young that bothers me, it's the inexperienced part, coupled with the fact that Jed is still new to the business. I would have liked for Lombardi to have taken *any* position with the team, just to give us another opinion/sounding board. But if Harbaugh signs on, I'll feel a lot better about Baalke's promotion.
How was McCloughan viewed when hired as GM? I keep hearing Baalke is well-respected and a viable candidate for the position, but not sure if McC had the same optimism...
Harbaugh is going to be the head coach of the 49ers

That's exactly how I feel. Get Harbaugh and it's all good. Get it done, Jed.

Lol
However, York had multiple interviews with ex-Raiders executive Michael Lombardi, including one today. York narrowed the list of candidates to Baalke and York earlier this afternoon, and settled on Baalke this evening.

I am sure he consulted his uncle again before this as well as any other resource he had available to him.

Great after so many college coaches failed in the NFL I think we got the right one

If they can't get Harbaugh, this board will SELF-DESTRUCT
Well Baalke was not my #1 choice as a fan but hey... So I wish him the best and will support him till he gives me a reason not to. I did like his draft other than moving up for Davis.

Hope he cleans house still fire almost everyone!
So let's see what we have learned today.

No Luck
No proven GM

Same horse sh*t from the Yorks
1) Baalke

2) HarBaalke

3) HarBaaLuck

Way to reach!

You guys kill me...

Especially when Lombardi was called back and was the one who met in person. If it was a garbage interview, why did he participate in the garbage?

Yea, right?

So GM, I am really interested in you POV of Baalke given his tenure here and his last nine months as Director of Player Personnel.

As Envy points out above, Baalke had a great off-season despite Singletary's idiocy with personnel.

Could you imagine this team without resigning Sims, signing LaBoy and bringing in Westbrook?

All of the 49ers personnel gaffes were coaching decisions like:

- Starting two rooks on the OL and still starting Rachal over Snyder at RG. I suggested moving Sims to LT and asking the very average (oft injured) Staley to play RT again (which everyone said was not a good idea), phase in Davis.

- Not using Westbrook to spell Gore more and use both, added with the insistence on using Walker OVER Westbrook.

- LaBoy used sparingly and relying on Haralson and Lawson to generate a pass-rush

I understand people want a clean sweep, but I don't know if Baalke deserves to be a part of that. All to most of the coaches need to go in my opinion. Four offenses and better players still WRs run poor routes, the routes aren't varied and none very innovative.
