The flag on SD was an obvious infraction. The call on Brown was easily the "worst call," though I can't speak to the facemask call because I couldn't see it clearly on my TV.
Obviously the ejection was the "most horrific" call that changed the game. Pretty clear.

and the officials said themselves that ejections are at their discretion, not written into the rule. a 15 yard penalty was the right call on that play, not an ejection.
It wouldn't even be an issue if Team Captain Justin Smith kept his cool and played like a well-kept leader.
I posted this in another thread but I want to point out here too....That ref, Garth Defelice, was the same guy who tried to punch a rams player when we played them last year, anyone remember? It seems like he is a hot headed a*****e himself who can barely hold his s**t together.
This was the poorest officiated game I saw in the last 5 years...
- The A.Smith TD was clear to me. However, there was absolutely no clear evidence to reverse the call on the field.
- On J.Smith, the ref pushed him unnecessary from behind/lateral, and Justin reacted automatically, with no bad intentions or anger. I can stand the penalty, the ejection was a joke.
- On the field goal penalty against the Chargers, the penalty was pretty obvious.
- On the Ginn TD, I can not see the facemask penalty... Norris just touched the helmet of the Charger player, not the facemask
The game should have been closer, but that calls, the Clements error on the first TD and the Brooks missed INT kept the game out of reach. Very frustrating... (to be fair, after the first two drives, even the offensive playcalling was bad, while the defense, after the J.Smith ejection, lost a lot of energy)

Agreed. No call cost us the game. Inability to score cost us the game. the defense came out on fire and then quickly got discouraged (as they often do) by the offenses inability to get the job done. A better offense would make this defense perform better consistently.

Totally agree. You can tell he has a chip on his shoulder. Like maybe he use to get beat up by the football team in high school. To get kicked out for that little shove I think Justin wishes he would have really pushed him harder.

Come on guys, this is just not true. Look the offense sucked as they normally do, but let's be realistic: the D sucked like they normally do as well. They put us in a hole when Clements couldnt knock down that jump ball by rivers. They couldn't stop the Chargers one time really throughout the game. They couldn't stay off the field so they tired out as the game went on. They gave up a ton of points and yards... I mean they were horrible all night long. The D needs MAJOR overhaul or a change in coaching philosophy (or both) next year or no offensive changes will be enough.

I think the refs blew some calls, but Thursday's game is just the most recent team blunder in a season filled with them. Since Week One, this team has found ways to shoot themselves in the foot over, over, and over again.
Dropped passes, missed blocking assignments, poor route running, inconsistent QB play, inconsistent play calling, turnovers, and that's just the offense.
The defense has NOT improved from last year, and may have actually gotten worse. Franklin hasn't played as well as he should, this (IMO) has a direct effect on Willis' play. Then you have the secondary..... all I can say is GARBAGE, the Niner secondary is straight GARBAGE.
