Lacking enthusiam about Troy Smith

I mean he kept tons of plays alive, but had our D stepped up like you said in the above game, then we wouldnt be where we are now. I even went a step farther and said I remember over the years, when we beat sorry ass teams, tons of fans made sure to point that out. So it's no different with Denver in my opinion.

They say we are nearing the easiest part of the schedule, so thats a great way to look at it. A. Smith played the hardest part in the first half, and now T. if he is the starter will now play the easiest part. Uncomparable in my opinion.

Like Alex lovers like you have on? Troy Smith had a 115 rating and people have called his performance "average" I have seen Alex Smith get a 75 and people give him a "B grade". It is called "bias", nothing more.

I agree but it goes both ways. When Alex has 90+ ratings..it's "well ratings don't mean much."

We could go back and forth on this all day. We are all part of the same hypocrisy.

But the context makes a huge difference. Alex gets a 90 rating every once in a while having 50 games of experience. Troy, is in his first game with little to none prep and with the play calling highly weighing against his success.

If Alex played that game and lost (which I'm sure he would have, given he couldn't even beat the Panthers), you would have said:

~ It was a team loss
~ Our D could't stop Lloyd, which was why we lost
~ Nedney wasn't accurate
~ Too many penalties that can't all be put on Alex
~ Our O-line didn't give him enough time
~ VD was out of the game
~ Morgan is overrated
~ Sing sucks
~ It was in London and the team was tired
~ Smith's coordinator just got changed and has no balls and is Sing's puppet
~ Gore kept getting inexplicably pulled for Dixon and Westbrook
~ We had a weak gameplan
~ Our WR's have alligator arms, run wrong routes, and would be backups on other teams
~ etc. (many other Alexcuses)
I know you don't like to give Alex blame when he deserves it, but at least give Troy credit when he does.

This is the kind of post you get when you old in your poop for too long.

This is exactly what has been happening to us in our losses including turnovers. We played an ultra conservative game which almost cost us the game but the QB who was put in the worst position during the game to be called upon to do something without deviating too far from the offense. Basically, he was going up against every excuse that is normally made for Alex but he played well and won.

I still believe Alex botches the Crabtree TD by throwing it 45 yards down field probably as scripted and it wouldnhave been WRs fault for slowing down after being wide open.

Yes fellas Troy did it without Vernon and the precious Seam route and with these WRs who would be second WRs on any other team at best and behind a crap OL and without the spread.

Why did we win: no plays left on the field. We made them.

exactly, no one open down field, troy buys some time to make a play, Alex, panics, rolls right and throws its out of bounce down the sideline..... notice a difference?

all the Alex nut-swingers are grasping at anything they can to take this win away from Troy. Out of 6 1/2 games, Smith was only able to pull ONE win, and in the game he got hurt, he was only able to get us tied against the worst team in the league.

I am excited....I just want to see it consistently

I thought he did well for a first start, but unlike Dennis Green I am not ready to "crown" 'im.

I think he played more than well enough to get another start, but he doesn't look like a world beater. Maybe he will be, but let's not get too excited yet.

I don't know...when the offense turns the ball over 9 times in those two games against the Eagles and Saints, I find it really hard to blame the defense. Defenses get tired when the offense can't stay out on the field, and to hold the opponents to 25 and 27 points with that many turnovers to deal with...is actually pretty impressive to me.

The biggest thing to me about Troy Smith, and with the understanding that it's only one game, is the 0 INT part of the game (no fumbles lost Sunday either). Is it a coincidence that the defense finally "shows up" in the game that the offense doesn't turn the ball over?

You always see other teams get lucky breaks, you know what, f**k it! It's our turn ... with that pass that should have been intercepted ... but it wasn't .... that fumble that Smith got back with a lucky bounce ... f**k it ... I'll take that too!
