Did you watch Carr yesterday with his feeble attempt at imitating and NFL QB.. As much as you may dislike Smith, he is the best QB on the roster and gives the 49ers the only chance of winning. Without Smith, this team will be lucky to win another game this season.

And don't bring up any of that Nate Davis crap, he is on the PS for a reason, he passed through waivers and no other team claimed him, not even for their own PS. All Nate Davis as going for him is a big arm, that's it.

You know who these people are. They are the posters who call us "haters," or "not a true fan," or some other garbage.

I just find it interesting that they're willing to give Alex game after game after game after game after game to straighten it out (which he never will folks -- and that's the sad truth). Yet they're riding Carr's nvuts after two quarters of play.

Where is the consistency here? Perhaps it's the Smith supporters who are not true fans? Perhaps they are more in love with one player rather than the team itself.

Hmm....

A point to ponder....

Being a true fan has nothing to do with supporting Alex Smith. A true fan routes for their team regardless of who is in the starting lineup. A true fan's loyalty doesn't waver, ever. I think by now most 49er fans realize that Alex Smith is not the long term answer and that in the short term this team is playing the best offensive football it will until a better qb takes over. It was clear yesterday that David Carr's intangibles are not as good as Alex Smith's. I mean come on bro, a check down on 4th down from 60 yards out? Any other qb is going to drop back, step up, and throw that ball towards the end zone. Carr didn't even trust his arm to make the throw. Alex Smith gives us the best chance to win, and in the end that is what any true fan wants their team to do.

Amazing

Just amazing...Ponder that line once again. Savor it. Think about it.

I can't believe I'm still reading this crud after the kind of El Stinko performances we've all seen out of Alex Smith. This is just as bad as Dingleberry's "we're gonna make the playoffs" rant.

No -- Alex Smith DOES NOT give us the best chance to win. He IS NOT the best QB on the roster. He IS the WORST quarterback in the entire NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE.

He is a FLOP. He is a FAILURE. He's had MULTIPLE CHANCES. He has FAILED at every opportunity.

When are you going to get this through your SKULL?

I am a better QB than Alex Smith at this point. So are you. So is everyone on this board. Carr and Nate Davis are immediate upgrades over Alex.

Unless you're talking about an injured Alex Smith both Carr and Davis aren't even close to being better.
Anyone who does not want Alex back as our QB is challenged. I mean they are not looking at the big picture, refusing to open their mind to hard, cold facts. Bigotry can really blind people.

Siince MJ was promoted to OC (last three weeks) Alex QB rating was 89.2 with 5 TDs and 1 INT. During the same three week period, the following significant QBs had the following averages and numbers:
P. Manning - 87.6 2 - 1
A. Rodgers - 81.6 4 - 4
D. Brees - 81.0 7 - 8
T. Brady - 76.0 2 -2
D. McNaab 66.4 3 - 5
J. Cutler - 61.8 1 - 4

During the last three weeks, Alex has outperformed some pretty good QBs, which is remarkable given the shakiness of the OL and receivers. He must be kept and the situation around him must be strengthened in order to allow him to do better. The raving lunatics are over-reacting and asking for foolish self-destruction.

Against two GARBAGE teams. BFD, and we were losing when he was injured in the last one.
I am not saying Alex is awesome or great i think at alex's best he is just good he could win with a team like dilfer did he could be good we have all seen passes come out and were like wow nice pass alex but we are so blinded by the young montana years that we dont realize that you dont always get one of those guys....is he the answer ....no best QB on roster YES! the problem is the ownership doesnt want to admit making mistakes with alex and they dont bring in competion at the QB position thats why hill i gone and even though hill couldnt throw 5 yards in the wind he was better than carr! and prob better game manager than alex i bet 50 bucks if hill was on the team we would have won yesterday and if he was our stater we would be 3-4.

so how much more do we appreciate Alex now that we seen David Carr? Troy Smith in anytime soon?

We don't - We knew Carr was and is a scrub,,, and we also know that Singletary brought Carr in specifically NOT to challenge "Alexcuses"... And the Troy Smith pickup was a joke in continuation of not having a QB (active) that could be seen as a threat to Smith! This just let's me know that Nate Davis must be a really good player because of the way he was dissed and publically louded out! Sing "Wants Losers" at the QB position!

I just don't see how David Carr or Troy Smith are better then Alex Smith. I saw all i needed to see of Carr during his stint in Houston. His arm isn't as strong as Smith's. He is not as mobile. He doesn't know the offense as well and he doesn't have the confidence of anyone on the offensive side of the ball. Don't get me wrong here - I don't think we should go another off season without drafting a qb and going after an upgrade in free agency. But, right now, with the current batch of qb's we have on our roster, he is the best one. As far as Nate Davis - I don't think we are ever going to have a chance to find out how good or bad this kid is. I doubt he'll crack the active roster with the current coaching staff.

Please Dave -- not you. You're as old as I am. And you're old enough to know that selecting QB's is a cr@pshoot -- not a science. This is why Tom Brady didn't get drafted until the 5th round and why Montana didn't get drafted until the third.

You KNOW this to be true.

Nate Davis is sitting on the PS because Dingleberry put him there. Dingleberry cut him because he announced to the world that "Nate wasn't ready."

After what you've seen out of our HC -- are you really going to believe that? Really?

Or do you need to look at tape first? C'mon man -- we all know that we won't be able to tell ANYTHING about Nate Davis until he gets a chance to start two or three games. Then -- and only then -- can we come to any concrete realization about "where Nate is" in the pecking order of things.
Let's compare apples to apples. Against KC Alex's QB rating was 68.8. When IND played KC this year, P. Manning had a 65.0. Another example of Alex performing as well as the best QB in football against the same opponent.
