To all the Alex lovers, do you believe he is the answer at QB for the 49ers? Would you intrust 6 more years to him?
Simple question? yes or no? Then please give a reason on why you believe he is the answer.
Please, I just need to know why you think he is the one.
No one says that.
I've noticed that if someone says anything that isn't a blast at Smith, they are a "Smith supporter." Whether you like it or not, he is the best option we have and this won't change. Who is better on the roster? Don't tell me Nate Davis. He doesn't even know the playbook and is on the PS. Troy Smith? Come on son.
Smith isn't the future, but who do you wanna play? The blind Smith hatred clouds your mind. When that happens, you beg for a guy like David Carr to play or you think Shaun Hill is the second coming of Joe Montana. Lets draft a QB. That won't be an overnight fix, and Smith will still be the best option while the rookie gets groomed. That's the bottom line.
Last time I remembered, when Hill was the best option and probably still would be, the argument for Smith was that he has a higher ceiling.
We all know Smith is the best immediate option but he doesn't seem to be the best longterm option. Why not begin to weed all of this out and see if anyone we have could be? Opportunity does wonders for a career and Davis and Troy just need an opportunity. If they don't have what it takes, then at least we know. If there's obvious and glaring potential, then we know we have something to work on and look forward to.
We are 1-7, there is no "best" option besides finding out if anyone can give us anything...something to look forward to.
If Smith doesn't play, I would want to see Davis in there. At least he has a strong arm. But, if he doesn't know the playbook can he? Even though it might be beneficial for us to lose, it hurts my soul watching our offense be pathetic. Like when Carr came in. I at least want us to be able to complete a pass to Crabtree or VD.
I see what you are saying, and I respect that point of view. It would be intriguing to see Davis in there.

I guess it's this generations "Mexican." Stoners got PC though, and it's a little offensive to call it that.
. He has never played 1 down in an actual game, he runs the risk of getting hurt because our line is garbage, or he doesn't know what to do....or worse he gets somebody else hurt because of his lack of knowledge. If he cant make the proper adjustment calls he will get somebody (possibly himself) killed.
