To be honest I can't wait for Alex to go someplace and light it up. Because hey guess what -- those REAL NFL coaches will know that putting him in the shotgun 50/50 will play to his strengths. Alex looks pretty damn good in the shotgun, or with more than .5 seconds to throw the ball.

On any other team Alex Smith wouldn't be starting. Let him go to any team, Shaun Hill looks better than him and has a winning record. W is what counts and you guys tend to always have excuses it's been 6 years already he's done!

Man I'm not in any way excusing his play. Where did I say that? All I'm saying is that if Alex was on another team -- the coaching staff there would utilize his STRENGTHS. Unlike our coaching!! Shaun Hill looks better? Sure he does... Why? Because they gameplan to utilize his strengths. Tell me this -- and be honest and unbiased -- does Alex Smith look exponentially better in the shotgun?

You're arguing with a brick wall, re-enforced with sound cancelling insulation.

Alex Smith operating out of the shotgun is what he needs. Unfortunately our head coaches are too hardheaded to realize that.
The blame it is starting with the front office. Following an untraditional leadership format with no GM has brought them back to the first years of the Nolan era. That and possibly not listening to the fans we wanted Rodgers we got Smith, we wanted DeSean Jackson we got Kentwan Balmer. to say more would be to aggravate an aneurism.
The coaches. Plain and simple. Up the middle for nothing. Up the middle for nothing. Up the middle for nothing. Up the middle for nothing. Up the middle for nothing. Up the middle for nothing. Up the middle for nothing. Up the middle for nothing. Up the middle for nothing.

Alex Smith SUCKS! AND Gore look OLD! See I did it again!

Sing should have "rested" Frank after the 1st fumble. Frank has not broken a f**king tackle all season!

I Knew Alex was going to throw that pick in the last minute! Told my wife "even thought everything has played out for us to win, watch Alex f**k it up!" And Boom "The Pick"

I think "The Pick" should be remembered like we do the 'The Catch", a moment that all forty niner fans will never forget, the moment we could all finally agree that ALEX is cursed!

Alex at his best is average! when he is back in the spread, calling audibles and completing passes, he looks like an average NFL qb, thats all average!

Sing=Done!
Alex=Done!

The fans tonight showed great restraint not throwing garbage on the field, but I guess more garbage on the field would be redundant!

Yea, we need a f**king pass rush too!

Done for now the f**king pissed to write anymore!

Do you notice how the majority of the posts bashing Smith and expressing their hatred are highly emotional and void of logic, and most of the posts defending his play tonight are basing their arguments on logic and observation?

Just sayin...

I've already accepted that fact. I just wanted to see what Norwalk thought about it.

this sounds like a singletary speech, how much did they pay you to post this? how can you ask us to just keep hoping after a 5 game loosing streak?!? 6 years of non winning seasons from alex. this was supposed to be his year. we have given him every chance. tell try and rally the troops. its too late

When you write out such well thought-out statements such as this one it's hard to not imediately notice your obvious brilliance...

FACT: There were many factors that contributed to alex's 2 ints and 1 fumble.
Yes, but he still threw them... and he still fumbled the ball
FACT: The fans booed him in what may be one of the most emotionally intense moments in the NFL
I was in the booing crowd. He went a quick 3 and out with 3 crappy throws. Emotionally intense? OFcourse, as every game is with Smith not living up to expectations...
FACT: Alex Smith came out and threw 2 td's to get his team back in the game after said moment, showing that he has more balls than someone like you who can write out poorly-worded insults from behind a keyboard.
He still threw and INT to end the game. Who cares about 2 TDs. They mean nothing when we still recieve a loss. He was not the sole reason for the loss, but definitely contributed on a major level
FACT: When we changed the playcalling from our standard stone-age-of-football philosphy to something resembling a modern passing game, Alex Smith made plays left and right.
I bet his numbers out of the shotgun are not much different
FACT: On that last drive the O-line was swiss cheese and alex pretty much had no time to throw. He took a massive hit trying while he was trying like hell to make a play for his football team so they could win their first game. As a result the ball sailed on him.
Wow! are you really removing all blame from Smith? At some point, you have to make plays to help your team win the game
No one is saying he didn't throw the interceptions or make bad plays. What we are saying is when you base your entire argument on "OMG 2 INTZ AND Teh FUMBLE HE SUXXXX" we will automatically assume you have no idea what you are talking about because you, in fact, do not know what you are talking about.

This team has much bigger problems then alex smith. It starts with our head coach's insistence on running possibly the s**ttiest offensive play-calling philosophy in the NFL, and also includes our defense's inability to make plays in the secondary.

Our team does have problems. The eagles offense consistently marched down the field like we were not even there. Gore fumbled away two balls, and assisted in the screw-up.

But the problem is, Smith played bad as well. As he always does, Smith manages to do just enough to look "okay" while simultaneously doing just enough to lose the game as well...

What about when Atlants drove down TWICE backed up in their OWN , what, 10??? Could also be the soft coverage play calling, but still.

f**k that weak ass p***y s**t! I felt sorry for every one who paid money to see that piss poor f**king excuse for a team! Spend $5 for a high school game and you will see better play! Instead of raining BOOs the should have rained Trash but the field was already covered in trash, and it was wearing a number 11 jersey!

Teams like this are exactly why the NFL no longer allows the sale os glass beer bottles! I know Sing could a used one upside his thick ass head!
its time to sit smith dumb ass down as of kansas city game..tired of his dumb mistakes and can just see how dumb and lost he looks on his face.we should have made move to get mcnabb or vick in ofseason but for some dumb reason thought smith was answer.tired of the same ol "he showed something in loss" excuses. he should have showed fire and urgency way before almost being benched.cmon chump, you had ashante samuel as well as other defensive players out, including vick and this game should have been ours easy.offense keeps putting pressure on our defense and d holds up but of course gonna give up plays at end as they cant do it all by themselves.i got no more faith in carr as smith but i know im tired of seeing smith kill us more on top of the other dumb mistakes being made in game.carr holds it down till we go after top veteran qb next year.and hope they dont fire singletary.team plays hard for him and hadnt seen that under previous coaches.also need to start spending some money to bring some big time help in.id love to see us get a top talent qb,de,db,wr.

I think that this team does not use this formation too much because Alex has not proven to be able to handle the preasure that will come with it. I was happy to see him partially rebound as initially he became rattled. But every objective statistical measurement used to assess QB play do not support Alex being a starting QB for this team; regardless of what formation you put him in.

I'm not removing all blame from Smith, I'm just trying to get people to really understand how impossible it is for a qb to succeed when everything else around him his setting him up for failure. Is he perfect? God no. But he has more s**tty play and coaching working against him right now than pretty much any team in the NFL right now.

I've already accepted that fact. I just wanted to see what Norwalk thought about it.

I've jumped on the Alex Smith BURN-wagon...

But even I'd say at this point...we definitely need to switch to the spread. I mean it's just so obvious to anyone at this point that we need to give up this smash mouth crap. D-linemen are just too big today. It's a pass pass pass run league...not the other way around. If we did that and Alex still bungled I'd COMPLETELY give up on him.

It's hard to completely write off a guy who shows the kind of success Smith shows under ONE style of offensive play as opposed to another. I mean imagine Alex Smith being coached by Sean Payton, or Tom Moore, or Andy Reid...I mean it's just unreal how poorly we utilize our personel. And again these arent excuses...it's just fact. We DONT know how to utilize players. It took us 3 fvckin years to figure out how to use Vernon Davis.
