Game 1 Analysis - The Slaughter in Seattle

I have to call out Michael Lewis. Clements jumped the route but the play called for Lewis to have coverage on Mike Williams deep.

Essentially Clements jumps the route knowing he had Lewis behind him. Nate already had one pick in the game and nearly another (if not being held by Deion Branch). I can't fault him too much for being aggressive.

Michael Lewis ends up taking a horrible angle on Mike Williams (at about :19 in the vid) before falling behind him then faceplanting into the turf. Dude had Mike Williams right in front of him and ended up not even laying a finger on him. Just watch and see for yourself.

D-Line: Good Job for the most part. They didn't get any pressure on Hasselback but in a 3-4, that is not neccessarily their jobs. They were solid against the run as usualy and forced Seattle to go pass happy, which we failed to stop. Special shout out to J. Smith the "Cowboy," as the announcer called him. He was playing like one, as he hog tied Justin Forcett on numerous occassions. He was the only one applying any kind of pressure on the QB.

LBs: Aside from Willis, an OK performance by this unit. They did not get to the QB and Laboy allowed Hasselback to get around him for a TD run. That is unacceptable. The coverage on Carlson was good. P Willis needs to get his guys more jacked up.

LETDOWN BY THIS GROUP

Offense:

OL: Terrible OL play. They could not move the Seattle line and got punished on pass protection. Davis was playing like a rookie out there...

HE IS A ROOKIE.

WRs: All these guys had a bad game except for VD.

BOTH MORGAN AND ZIG MADE THEIR CATCHES. F CRABTREE

QB: For all the Smith lovers, you just witnessed what excellent QB play can do for your team. With a f**ked up offensive line, s**tty WRs, and a whack RB core, Hasselback was able to jam it down our throats three times....Smith was constantly overthrowing guys, rolling out for no reason, and checking down to gore before going through his reads.

NO ARGUMENT THERE...

Coaching: The staff let our boys down. They were grossly unprepared for this game. It almost looked as if our players didn't know what to do, especially on offense. We wasted all of our timeouts because we had timing issues. What if we needed to challenge a critical play? We would be f**ked like the ATL game last year. I was tempted to start an unneccessary timeout thread. I just might have to do it. Same problem last year was not addressed. Jimmy Raye needs to stop with this run first bulls**t. I think he can't because he is aware that Smith sucks. Why didn't they draft Clausen?

SAME OL' SAME OL', IT MAY BE TIME FOR JED TO START LOOKING AT HIS OPTIONS FOR HC.


ST: Nothing to brag about here except for Lee's punting. They failed to down punts, no great returns, and sketchy coverage. Nedney looks to be ready for the field goal fest that will take place this year. Ginn looks scared out there.

MAYBE, BUT THE COACHING AND VETS HAVEN'T IMPROVED FROM LAST YEAR AND THE ROOKIES LOOK LIKE ROOKIES.

come on man Alex Smith is the best practice qb in the leauge ! don't produce on the field but he will save the day on the practice field . He will show up on time oh even better he spends his off time in the headquaters to watch film !
