Is Anthony Davis a BUST?

He's a 20-year-old rookie who has played 7 games, next to a revolving door of players at RG. How in the world can anybody make any reasonable assessment of how good of a player he could be? Easy: you cannot. Anybody calling him a "bust" this early should never consider professional football as a career.

Maybe he'll be a bust, maybe he'll be a perennial Pro Bowler. It is absolutely impossible to make that judgment now.

I know I didn't want to draft Davis. I was adamant, but when we picked him, its like this power the 49ers have over me, I immediately start thinking they picked the right guy who will help us the most. I think Im wrong now. Matthews would have been the best 1st pick to help us the most.

He needs more time, maybe six years.

The only thing that is certain is that he is off to a slow start. Many top OL are able to step in and play well right away. Davis hasn't, but that doesn't mean he won't end up a good player. He has time on his side. Isn't he only 20, or just turned 21?

He is slow to get out of his stance and get his feet set to pass block, this might be something there is no fix for.

Why are the niners not helping Davis at all by chip blocking his guy or leaving TE or RB on his side.. I dont understand why they always choose to leave him by himself when he is clearly getting whooped.

Its a calculated risk to accelerate his learning process. The team is still gunning for the playoffs, so by the time we get there, the hope is that he will have learned from all of his rookie mistakes. Its obvious he's making alot of em (could say that he cost us the Eagles game letting Smith's arm get batted, and the Panthers game letting the rusher get past him), but then again he could be learning from them. Time will tell, but better he take his lumps now, then in a crucial playoff situation.

Its Kwame 2.0 He is getting beat by guys that are not even that good. Either you got it or you dont. Keeping it real here the kid just cant pass block. He looks slow and sluggish and she shouldnt since he is only 20 yrs old. Not sure about this kid. He was rated a 3rd rounder by alot of pro scouts and its showing. I think we may have got the shaft on this one. We could always slide him inside to RG and go after a pass blocking RT in the future so all hope isnt lost.

I just don't get how he f**ks up EVER single game... We should all be at least a little concerned.........

I see AD getting run over by linemen on the initial charge.

I remember one of the knocks against him was upper body strength.

Without the upper body strength he is unable to deliver the punch necessary to neutralize the defensive lineman's initial charge.

Once you neutralize the initial charge you are just dealing with a fat man.

During the offseason he will need to pay particular attention to developing his upper body strength. Not much he can do right now except continue working on technique positioning and learning how to yell "Look Out!"

That's a stupid way to coach a team. Costing games in the present to play in an imaginary game in the future.
