I don't care for Hill, Jones, and Z

I'm rooting for Z. It's a great story.....dude has paid his dues on the practice squad. He's like the Rudy of the 49ers. I think Jones is gone. His contract is just not justified. Hill needs to stay healthy....I don't think he ever has. If I needed a 5th reciever....I'd keep Z cause he has good hands and comes cheap. Plus he's from Texas.

This debate brings up an important point. It often becomes evident that GMs become invested in their draftees and FA signings. Their ego prevents them from admitting their mistakes. This, therefore, is one of the benefits of firing your GM. A new personnel guy feels free to cut the mistakes of the previous guy.

Since the Niners love 2-TE sets, I don't think it really matters who is our 4th WR. The three that will get the bulk of the action are set: Crabtree, Morgan, Ginn.
Jones has little chance of making the roster, due to his salary. I expect the 4th WR to be Hill and Williams to be the 5th.

Mad, why haven't they released Jones already if we all know their not going to pay him that salary? I'd think he'd be gone by now.

crabtree/morgan/ginn/williams/hill
hoping for that wr core ^
Sounds good, but Jason Hill was a b***h when he didn't get the play though. I would rather take a enthusiathic #5 rookie WR over a disgruntled J. Hill.
Jason Hill > Morgan IMO
Wait, wait, how's Hill better than Morgan? I wanna hear this. Josh has reliable hands, goes down the middle, can go deep decently, blocks, is a bigger endzone target, does returns etc...How does Hill belong more on the field than Josh Morgan.
LOL seriously? Remember when Morgan was WIDE open down the field with no one around him, and Shaun Hill threw it right in his hands, and he drops it and says "Coach, its not my fault, it came down like a punt!"
Remember near the sideline vs. the Titans when Morgan failed to catch Alex's pass that was right in his numbers, then the ball bounces up off his hands and gets intercepted by Finnegan for a TD? And you could argue that lost us the game.
I remember Jason Hill showing great catching ability when Singletary first got the job, and last year against the Titans he made a nice catch in the endzone. He had 2 touch downs that game.
Another thing I hate about Morgan is how slow he is. Remember vs. the Falcons when he caught a pass, again near a sideline, and the CB taking him fell, and Morgan has all green in front of thim, then the SAME CB stands back up and catches Morgan! After he fell! Seriously!?
Bull. Hes still the slowest starter on our offense..Including Joe Staley
IDK how you dont score on that play.
Cause he was foolish and started to let up a little, obviously. Now how about you spend some time getting your facts straight before you come with a weak argument.
You really wouldnt agree that Jason Hill has more speed and better hands than Morgan? Thats my argument.

Here's how I see our WR corps on opening day:
1.) Crabtree (#1, flanker)
2.) Morgan (starting split-end)
3.) Ginn (back-up split-end, KR)
4.) Hill (beats out Jones for the back-up flanker spot; get some run at the slot)
5.) Williams (main slot WR eventually, PR)
* LeRoy Vann is the wild card in that he could see time at "WR" and key special teamer (mostly PRs, but some KRs as well).
Gone:
Brandon Jones
Dominique Zeigler
Practice squadders:
1.) Scott Long
2.) Jared Perry
1.) Crabtree (#1, flanker)
2.) Morgan (starting split-end)
3.) Ginn (back-up split-end, KR)

I think that Hill will be let go during training camp.
Williams is faster, has better RAC ability and is a good punt returner as well. Why keep Hill around...unless they want him to back-up Morgan or Crabtree on the outside.

These three stooges need to gtfo the team asap. I am tired of looking at the same sorry faces of players who don't produce on the field. I am sick of people saying Jason Hill needs to see the field and that he has potential. I don't think so! Brandon Lloyd showed much more than Hill while he was here and where is that cat now? Jason Hill is your typical #5 WR.
Brandon Jones was a terrible signing from the jump! He showed nothing in Tennessee and we paid him like a #1 WR? wtf? the sooner we get this dude off our team, the better we are.
Z, I don't think his body can handle the NFL. I have bigger arms than him and I weigh 150. C'mon, son.
That leaves us with Kyle Williams. I am rooting for this guy all the way. He looks really good in all of his highlights. We've been missing that speedy guy with reliable hands for a long time now.
Another reason that I am rooting for this dude is because his daddy, Ken Williams (GM of the White Sox), is a Bay Area guy. He was born in Berkeley then went to school at Mt. Pleasant HS (San Jose) and Stanford University. It's only right that his son helps the 49ers win their next SB.
Okay...so lets say the 49ers actually read this board and your arguments are so convincing that tomorrow morning they release Hill, Jones and Ziegler.
That now leaves you with Crabtree and Morgan as the starters, Ginn who flamed out as a WR in Miami and Williams. The system is new to Ginn. Williams is a late round rookie. Both Ginn and Williams were probably brought here to help in the return game. Lets also not forget that Hill played in the same conference as Williams in college and had a much better overall career as a WR.
So, under your plan, that's now the 49er receiver corps. What happens if Crabtree or Morgan get hurt? Who could they add from the outside that would be better for a similar price? And, don't say T.O., he's not coming here.
There really is no upside to cutting Hill or Jones at the moment. They don't have big contracts for this year. If they truly get beat out at TC, then so be it but cutting them now "just because" would hurt the team and be just plain silly.
