Michael Robinson HAS TO GO!

What is the point of doing this? The best special teams player we have. The guy has the uncanny ability to always be in the right place at the right time on special teams. He has the uncanny ability to make the key block that springs the touchdown. And he recovers the key fumble that saves the game.

I don't get this move at all. You can't tell me this guy can't make the 53 man roster. Even if he's 53rd. He's not a RB and never was. That was never his value. But special teams is 1/3 of the game and now we just lost the guy who is always in the right place at the right time.

IMO we will live to regret this.

Give me a break. The "key" block is made because he was the lead blocker on punt returns. Whoever replaces him will do just as well if he can throw a block at all. It's not like Robinson's blocks were spectacular. He blocked the first guy to get there. YOU can probably do that.

By the way, Scott McKillop was our best special teams player last year, NOT Robinson.

If it's not his fault when we do poorly, then it can't be to his credit when we do well.

Even with sh*t for returners, if Robinson was such a great blocker, our guys should have been able to gain a few yards on returns or at least have enough space to make the catch without worrying about getting lit up immediately.

Question to the OP. How many TD's did M-Rob spring on ST?

I can only remember one. The Rossum TD on Monday Night against the Cardinals (sorry, but preseason doesn't count, so he gets no credit for the Philip Adams return). Even then, Robinson made the same block he always does - the first guy he sees getting near him - and Rossum did the rest, which is exactly what is supposed to happen. If you watch Robinson or ANY lead blocker in the league, they ALL do that on almost EVERY return. Robinson doesn't do it any better than any other competent lead special teams blocker in the league. How well the return goes depends on the return man. He never did anything spectacular that another decent player can't do. He was given more credit than he deserved.

He's one guy on a unit that was not very good last year. I don't think his impact will be missed that much.

Get used to cutting good players. This happens when your team is becoming a rising team in the NFL.

I was surprised by the Robinson cut, but I can see it. Robinson was a good story, but he is far from irreplaceable. Someone will step up and perform his duties just as well, my guess will be Taylor Mays.

We haven't cut any good players.

I think Robinson was cut because of the rise of Kyle Williams and Philip Adams. The team only had one spot for punt returner, but both of those players made the team, and Kyle Williams is currently injured. I think Shottenheimer (I know I really butchered the name) had to either let one of those 2 go, or lose MRob, and he chose to let MRob go.

He is over-rated on special teams.

I don't understand how you can hate on a bunch of good players, and then turn around and jock somebody like Robinson.
