He is better than average on special teams.

He is over-rated on special teams.

I don't understand how you can hate on a bunch of good players, and then turn around and jock somebody like Robinson.

What a joke.

I want a good special teams.

This thread has been officially vindicated!
Being able to cut players like M Rob and let Battle go means the overall talent on this team is much better now.
Looks like he is gone, it's too bad they never let him throw at least one pass though.

when the 49ers hire you then maybe you can re-sign him back!
Like I said before, Keith Lewis was once our special teams ace and captain. But as the roster keeps improving you can't hang on to those guys unless you like their potential at their position. Robinson showed that he would never be a good rb. No one stays on a roster for a long time just because they're good on special teams, and I'm excluding good return specialists when I say that. Ulbrich was very good on special teams, but we could rely on him to play LB too, that wasn't the same case for Robinson.
I only remember M-Rob on two special team plays

Fake Punt run against Seattle Thursday night

and

a block to spring Rossum on TD.

He didnt even make returns on specials teams.

classic "jack of all trades, but, a master of none"....the numbers and the talent finally caught up with MRob...thanks for being a class act and a respected team player in the locker room.
I liked him just a tad better than that phaggot Battle.

I hated Battle.

Most overrated niner ever.

Like I said, Robinson's special teams play was over-rated. People like to bring up the fact he was a pro bowl alternate, but look at what he actually did last year and you'll notice he was undeserving. McKillop was better than him on kick coverage. He (Robinson) was the lead blocker on returns, and we sucked ass in the return game. So you tell me, what did he do to deserve the honor of being a pro bowler?

NOTHING.

However they determine who makes the pro bowl as a special teamer (outside of specialists, obviously) is a damn joke. Robinson wasn't even the best special teamer on the team last year, much less good enough to be a pro bowler.
this doesn't belong in niner talk anymore
I agree with what I've read from others when they say " I fail to see how Curtis Taylor 5th string safety has more value than Michael Robinson Special Teams Pro Bowler...
