Here's my unbiased take on alex smith.. I see only a couple of "Bad" plays on his part. The pass he threw to nowhere when he had 2 wide open receivers in the endzone was my main concern.. do you really blame alex? It seems that the whole team does not have faith in him when he throws the football and it shows in his performance. He threw it away because he doesnt want to make a mistake... His dink and dunk short passes when he wants to go deep with the football guess what.... THATS WHY WE BENCHED HILL... I'll really tell you why we never scored 20 or 30 in that game.. on 3rd and 10 raye calls a draw up the middle.. way to conservative.. By the way.... I do not blame alex on the int.... Man coverage against crabtree and you SHOULD go deep with it.. enough air was under it where it was practically positioning that wins you the football. Crabtree slipped up and gave the DB perfect jump on it.. If that was calvin johnson everyone would be saying "what a nice throw by alex smith" all in all, as long as we win, i think no one really cares what we do.. they say they like to throw and stuff and thats cool, but 30 short 5 yard pass plays arent going to get the job done. We all see flashes of greatness in alex, lets develop it and turn him into a star that he could be.. U guys agree?

Honestly the biggest problem is the offense is never allowed to get in any kind of rhythm. When we begin to then the play calling and philosophy suddenly changes. Alex clearly is not successful we spread things out. This is definite. We are not getting sht out of him if we just play a I formation 2 back set then pass on 3rd and long. Alex just isn't that QB. Never was never will be. Spread it out. Play out of the shot gun more and keep a good mix of run and pass. If you wanna bunch everyone up for a PA pass that's cool. Bottom line is Alex is NOT a "traditional offense" kinda guy.

I posted in another thread that the whole O looks better from the spread look. Alex is a different QB, Gore gets more yards, and even the receivers seem to get separation. Whenever we go with the gun, we tend to have success moving the ball. When we go to Raye's bread and butter offset I with Morgan in motion run on 1st and 2nd, lo and behold, we suck.

That is one of the reasons he's horrible. Like he can't call an audible? Raye is as predictable as the sun rises and sets everyday. Everyone at home could see the defense stack the box why not change the play to a pass? Granted I think he's the best QB on this team so we have to play him but I've never seen so many fans make excuses for one guy before

Right. All QBs should be like Peyton Manning, especially young ones.

4 years in the league. If he doesn't have it by now he'll never have it

TECHNICALLY Alex just finished his 3rd season tonite.

Too funny. Which was it? Underthrown or OVERTHROWN? Are you like covering your bases with that statement or do you really not understand what you just said?

Nobody is "afraid" of blaming Alex. But 1 pick is nothing. Solid Veteran Starting QBs' have AVERAGED that and gone to the HoF. Not that Smith is comparable to them.

Btw the other day I was digging through my closet cleaning out the old stuff that I don't use. Well I found my Batphone and was wondering if you would like to have it. It's really useful when you need to let the Coaching staff know what they are doing wrong and which players need to be benched or let go.

We get 5 INT and score 10 points? Are you kidding me? Our offense sucks I don't care who the freakin' QB is. We are not a playoff team sportsfans. Until we get an OL and a decent OC we are not going back to the promised land. We will win 2 more games this year at the rate we are going.

have you ever watched calvin johnson? nearly all his deep balls are under thrown.. its up to the receiver to make an adjustment and put himself in position to make a catch and alex had faith in our soon to be star... crabtree stumble when he was going for it

Who would have thought... Alex has greatly improved his accuracy over Shaun Hill but his QB rate has fallen way below average for a QB in the NFL (It's barely lower than Hills; but still lower by 0.1).

I guess this indicates that Alex deserves his share of blame in the weak O showing tonight.

You guys are right on only 33 games played but he has been in the league since 2005 and has been in film rooms since then. His bright spots are few and far between.
