All the naive homers guaranteeing wins week after week are looking like the boy who cried wolf. Let's make one thing clear about the 49ers in the York era. They always win 2-3 games in September and give naive fans a boner. Then in October and November the real 49ers show up and lose to even the lowly teams. Then in December with the team out of playoff contention they will win a couple of meaningless games, once again making the naive homers cream their pants thinking the team is headed in the right direction. Then the cycle starts anew the following season.

So I am expecting wins in December against the Lions and Rams, followed by the owner's son making some BS guarantee again. And once again the naive homers will buy it.

Not an Alex "fan boy", but he played well today. Poised (as much as one can be behind this damaged line), good arm, spreads the ball. He had two serious errors: the one int, and the fumble. Still, he involved a brand new WR into the game, and I think THAT is going to be big.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season, playoffs, or not.

I also am starting to think that Alex has the tools to win consistently - if he has more real-game experience, and a little help from his line.

We should have won this game, but it was an overall "stink-up". We need to play more consistent error free ball. The eventual Superbowl winners every year TEND to have low turnovers, and very few (if any) key injuries. We're hurting on both fronts this year. We may salvage it for the playoffs, but it is getting less likely. Still, there is hope.

Based on how Alex Smith played today, I have a hard time believing that he can out play Jay Cutler.

Just because Kurt Warner and the Cards stomped their butts today doesn't mean that the 49er's can do the same.

Inspite of Brian Urlacher being out, they still have a formidable defense that can come after the passer.

The biggest knock on Alex Smith has always been that he hangs on to the ball too long, and today was no exception. Just seems to me that he still hasn't adjusted to the speed of the NFL.

We can really use a win on National television to provide some sort of spark for this team. We need the same motivation that we had when the season started

If a must-win game against the Titans doesn't motivate you, I doubt anything else will. It's not about motivation anymore. It's about the coaches and players performing on the field when it matters most. Motivation can only get you so far.
