With the Niners luck, I wouldn't doubt if Goodell grants the Raiders an extra 2nd round draft pick for the nobility of giving Aldon another chance.

No....he will just take our second rounder and give it to them. That will be the only punishment surrounding the latest aldon incident.

He released his anger by calling the DA and telling them to release the charges on Smith 30 mins after he signed with the Raiders
Wow

would have been worse if he signed with the Seahawks..

He has no right to be pissed...this would not have happened if he had drafted J.J. Watt...he has no one to blame but himself.

A third of NFL teams passed on Watt, and all those teams save for maybe Carolina would take Watt in a do over. The other two thirds of the league wish they could have traded UP to get him. We had a dire need at pass rusher while we felt good about the 5 techs we had and Watt was by no means the consensus BPA, and so we took a guy who fit a need and who was on pace to be a phenomenal player before his trouble started. His play on the field was justifying his draft slot.

Also according to Gary Pinkel, HC at Mizzou, Aldon had no issues while under his watch. So not like we took a giant known character risk.

He was a known risk for some trouble in the draft according to Fox Sports: http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/49ers-aldon-smith-risk-of-off-field-trouble-draft-psych-test-lax-alleged-bomb-threat-041414

It was available to those drafting him. Why would it be released unless it came true.

Well aware of that.

Here is what we do not know...if the 49ers use this 3rd party service, how many NFL teams in total actually use this 3rd party service and what their accuracy rate is in evaluating NFL players.

We also do not know what the past experiece with trouble was...did he steal a popsicle when he was 10 ? Or is it more serious ? Does it even relate to the trouble he has been in since being drafted ?

Playing Captain Hindsight on missing on Watt applies to every team save for Houston. It is not a valid or logical argument that has any real rationale behind it...just one of angry fans who now have the benefit of hindsight. I could cherry pick hindsight misses in every year of the draft.

No it is available to those teams who subscribe to this third party service.
They should have never released him. The worst decision in Baalke's tenure. York and Baalke caved to the media and fans who thought enough was enough. You don't cut one of the best pass rushers in the League. You cut a back up safety, but not Aldon Smith. Sad, but true. As a fan, I want wins, not angels. I could care less if Aldon Smith is the biggest jerk off in the world. He can rush the QB. He isn't a priest, he's a football player. This "good character" crap is BS. The job of York and Baalke is to get the team to win the Super Bowl. Not to get them to heaven. Bad call by both. I'd rather win the Super Bowl with Charlie Manson than be 4-12 with Mother Teresa.

No one player should be above the team. You cannot hold Aldon to different standards than the rest of the locker room.

They released him but did not close the door to a return. They wanted to help a young man regain control of his own life before his actions have consequences that could potentially cost innocent victims. Helping Aldon was more important than winning...the team made a selfless decision, you wanted a selfish decision made.
