Rodgers is in for some trouble. He lost another o-lineman for the season. That is a patchwork o-line. We saw the effects in the 4th quarter.

Aaron Rodgers has earned his respect. Every QB has bad games now and then, but GOOD QBs don't let it happen often. Alex Smith hasn't done anything to give him a free pass.

He's complied a 10-3 record, been clutch when he needed to be, is 2nd in 4th quarter comebacks, earned a top 10 QB rating and a stellar TD-to-Int ratio. So yeah, I'd say he gets a pass.

The defense and run game are far more responsible for the 10-3 record than Alex Smith. Even if you want to credit everything to Alex, he's having one pretty good season out of 7 as a pro (2006 was decent, not good). He deserves no pass.
For whatever reason, though, he gets a pass from some Niners fans no matter what. He can come out and chuck 7 INTs in one game and people would still find someone else to blame.
The difference between he and Rodgers is Rodgers gets a pass from just about everyone if he has a poor game because they come few and far between. You'll have a hard time finding people outside of Niners fans who think Alex has earned any kind of respect. And, despite what you might tell yourself, its not because they don't know Alex's story.
